Invitation to Submit Abstracts
We invite abstract submissions to be presented as a poster presentation at the Society for Social Neuroscience (S4SN) 10th annual meeting at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago in Chicago, IL on October 17-18, 2019. We welcome abstracts reporting recent results in the field of social behavior and its neural underpinnings, whether they involve animal or human subjects. Investigators at any career stage are encouraged to present posters.

Poster Submission GUIDELINES
To submit an abstract for a poster, please use the form provided here. After submitting your abstract, you will receive an email containing the details of your submission and confirming your submission. All abstracts will be reviewed by the S4SN Program Committee. Incomplete submissions and inappropriate abstracts will be rejected upon review.

The abstract submission deadline is Monday, May 20, 2019 (11:59PM latest time zone on earth). Acceptance notifications will be emailed by July 1, 2019.

Abstract Content
Please follow these guidelines when submitting your abstract. The Presenting Author (1st author) is responsible for adherence to these guidelines and for the merit of the presentation.
  • It is acceptable to submit an abstract that has also been submitted to SfN.
  • All abstracts must have an element of "Social" as well as "Neuroscience." If the subject matter of the abstract has only one element, e.g. social, the findings must be placed in the context of neuroscience.
  • Your abstract must contain the specific goals of the study, the methods used, a summary of the results, and a conclusion. It is not satisfactory to say, "The results will be discussed."
  • The presenting author is required to register to attend the S4SN 2019 Annual Meeting

The Society for Social Neuroscience invites you to join us in a Fireside Chat with Dr. Vivek H. Murthy,  MD, MBA, 19th Surgeon General of the United States on The Healing Power of Connection. Thursday,  October 17, 2019, at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago, IL
 
Dr. Vivek H. Murthy served as the 19th Surgeon General of the United States appointed by President Barack Obama.  As the Vice Admiral of the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, he commanded a uniformed service of 6,600 public health officers globally. During his tenure, Dr. Murthy launched the TurnTheTide campaign, catalyzing a movement among health professionals to address the nation's opioid crisis. He also issued the first Surgeon General's Report on Alcohol, Drugs, and Health, calling for expanded access to prevention and treatment and for recognizing addiction as a chronic illness, not a character flaw. An internal medicine physician and entrepreneur.  In 2017, Dr. Murthy focused his attention on chronic stress and isolation as prevalent problems that have profound implications for health, productivity, and happiness. He has co-founded a number of organizations: VISIONS, an HIV/AIDS education program in India; Swasthya, a community health partnership in rural India training women as health providers and educators; software company TrialNetworks; and Doctors for America.

Dr. Murthy received his bachelor's degree from Harvard and his M.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Yale. He completed his internal medicine residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and later joined Harvard Medical School as faculty in internal medicine. His research focused on vaccine development and later on the participation of women and minorities in clinical trials.  Dr. Murthy resides in Washington, D.C. with his wife Dr. Alice Chen and their two young children.
