How did you end up at Haypp Group and what is your role there?
I’ve been with the Haypp Group for a little over three years now, as the head of the the US market. Through various international commercial and leadership roles in countries such as Switzerland, Hungary, and Norway – not to mention Sweden, before joining the Haypp Group – I’ve gained an extensive background in the industry. Currently, I’m leading our group’s exciting expansion into the US! At first, I didn’t have much experience with e-commerce, however, I’ve since built a strong team of experts here in the states, alongside the support from our colleagues in Sweden. I believe this market approach gives us a competitive advantage and serve as one of our company’s most important core strengths. We have local expertise, coupled with a central powerhouse, that provides us with the opportunity to scale fast and with excellence.
Looking at your website, your vision to “Inspire healthier enjoyment for millions” is a great driving force for Haypp Group. Do you think the recent trend of health consciousness affects the company and its success?
Haypp Group is the worlds largest online retailer of smoking cessation products such as Snus and Nicotine pouches. The company, in its current shape and form, was established four years ago when Scandinavia’s online leader, Snusbolaget, and the international online leader, Northerner, merged. In the United States nicotine pouches, a category very comparable to Nicorette gum or lozenges, accounts for 90% of our sales. Our ambition is to provide significantly less harmful products to those adult customers that would otherwise continue to smoke, and, in the longer run, make a notable and positive impact on public health.
Our company vision “Inspire healthier enjoyment for millions” is not only a statement, but something we truly believe in and live by every day. We’re hard at work, influencing an agenda with the end-goal of offering a necessary and safer alternative for millions of people. There are over one billion smokers around the globe who deserve access to, and education around, less harmful alternatives. It should be no surprise that we operate within a complex category, surrounded by massive regulatory and fiscal challenges both on a federal and state level. However, utilizing Haypp Group’s strong category experience and working closely with authorities, experts, and our business partners (such as Swedish Match) we’ve managed to navigate those challenges successfully.

"Our company vision
“Inspire healthier enjoyment for millions” is not only a statement, but something we truly believe in"
Can you provide an overview of your products and your market in the US? Who are your main clients here?
As an online retailer, we sell well established products directly to adult consumers through our online shops, for example http://www.nicokick.com. The online environment creates opportunities that can’t be offered in an offline environment. For example, we can provide information and education around the category, since our customers usually have more time to spend browsing compared to a visit to a convenience store. We can also carry a significantly wider assortment at better price points, since we don’t need a huge organisation to facilitate our overall operations. And very importantly, our abilities to properly and digitally age verify every customer outweigh the compliance that could be expected in an offline setting (ex. checking ID). Finally, due to the size and scale of the US market, we’ve got a great geographical reach, and the ability to scale and adapt to market changes very quickly.
How have you been introducing Haypp Group in the US market?
We are a growth company, and the US market has the potential to deliver exceptional growth over time, so it’s obviously very important to us. Over the last few years, the team and I have focused intensely on establishing a robust foundation, to enable future growth and set the bar very high for our competitors. This also includes creating a lean and well-functioning organization, building credible and sustainable relationships with authorities and business partners, and establishing an infrastructure that unlocks the next growth stage. As an example, at this point we have established three new warehouses across the country and have plans for at least two more in the year ahead of us.
So far, I’m more than happy with the results, which have been nothing but impressive. Our US sales have increased more than 10x over the last 36 months and the pace is only accelerating. Our customer base has grown even faster, and we are ready to deliver a fantastic 2023!

New party leader for Sweden's Center party
Annie Lööf served as the party leader for Sweden's Center Party from 2011 to 2023, and was elected as a Member of Parliament for Jönköping County in 2006. She also held the position of Sweden's Minister of Industry from 2011 to 2014 in the Reinfeldt government. However, Lööf has recently stepped down as the party leader, and on February 2, Muharrem Demirok was elected as the Center Party's new leader.
Demirok has been a member of the Center Party since 2002 and was a member of the party board from 2005 to 2013. He served as a municipal councilor in Linköping from 2009 to 2022, where he focused on environmental and community planning issues, as well as serving as the first vice chairman of the municipal board. In 2019, he was re-elected to the party board and in 2022 was appointed as the education policy spokesperson for the Center Party.
Demirok is particularly passionate about the issue of climate change, believing that both international and national commitments are not progressing fast enough. He notes that as the global temperature continues to rise, the consequences of climate change are becoming increasingly difficult to manage. Demirok believes that local solutions are key to solving the global problem and that all companies working on the green transition should utilize their inherent power to help combat climate change.

Women's History Month is celebrated in March each year to honor the contributions and achievements of women throughout history. It is a time to recognize the struggles and accomplishments of women who have broken barriers, shattered stereotypes, and made significant contributions to society in various fields. The celebration of Women's History Month dates back to the early 1900s, when women began to demand their right to vote and greater participation in society. Today, Women's History Month serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for gender equality and the need to continue breaking down barriers for future generations. During this month, we celebrate the accomplishments of trailblazing women who have made history and inspired us to strive for a more equitable and just world.
|
In honor of Women’s history month, we would like to highlight Jessica U. Meir, a Swedish- American astronaut for NASA who was selected in 2013. She has experience working for Lockheed Martin’s Human Research Facility, where she supported human physiology research. During her time there, she also participated in research flights on NASA’s reduced gravity aircraft and served as an aquanaut in an underwater habitat for NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations. Meir most recently served as a flight engineer on the International Space Station for Expedition 61 and 62, during which she conducted the first three all-woman spacewalks. She spent 205 days in space, 3,280 orbits of Earth, and a trip of 86.9 million miles.
International Women's Day
| |
On March 8th, International Women's Day is celebrated around the world to recognize the achievements of women. This year, SACC-DC, SACC-Georgia, and SACC-Carolinas marked the occasion by hosting a webinar featuring four female speakers sharing their own experiences. The webinar featured Nancy Fischer, Jesica Lindgren, Yelena Epova, and Caroline Johansson, who discussed their journeys and shared insights on their respective fields. The moderator, Stacey Youngdale, facilitated a thought-provoking discussion about the challenges women face and the progress that has been made in achieving gender equality. This year's theme was "Embrace Equity," highlighting the need to challenge gender bias and inequality in all areas of life. The webinar provided a platform for women to share their experiences and inspire others to continue working towards a more equitable and just world. The webinar organized by SACC-DC, SACC-Georgia, and SACC-Carolinas is just one example of how International Women's Day is celebrated in various ways, from rallies and marches to conferences and cultural events.

On February 28th, the entire team of the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C. had the privilege of visiting the headquarters of Lockheed Martin in Virginia. The purpose of the visit was twofold: to learn more about the company's operations and to explore potential collaboration opportunities between Lockheed Martin and the SACC-DC.
| |
Upon arrival, Adeline, Lockheed Martin's International Business Development Analyst, and Stephanie, the company's International Business Development Senior, warmly welcomed the SACC-DC team. Stephanie began the meeting by providing an overview of Lockheed Martin's impressive range of capabilities. She explained how the company conducts extensive research and development, designs cutting-edge technologies, and specializes in integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems. Stephanie also presented an overview of the products and services that Lockheed Martin offers.
|
The SACC-DC team was particularly impressed with the company's sleek and modern office space, complete with models and a technology-focused vibe. During the visit, SACC-DC members even had the opportunity to test-drive a simulation of the F-35 plane, one of Lockheed Martin's successful products.
Overall, the visit to Lockheed Martin proved to be an informative and fruitful experience for the SACC-DC team. The discussions and presentations provided a deeper understanding of the company's impressive capabilities and potential areas of collaboration between Lockheed Martin and the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce.
