Thank you to everyone who attended the International Young Professionals mixer and our SACC 1st Quarter Happy hour in February. It was great seeing so many new and familiar faces.
March is International Womens month this year's theme is Embrace Equity. On March 8 we are, for the third year in a row, hosting a IWD webinar together with SACC Washington DC and SACC Carolinas. The Atlanta Women's Series is back! On March 16 you are welcome to join us at the offices of Smith, Gambrell & Russell for a for an evening of dialogue and networking among women leaders and allies from the international community to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women worldwide.
Last week, SIREUS welcomed 11 Swedish and 14 American universities to SIREUS CHANCELLORS forum, an event in Washington D.C. that brought together thought leaders across government, industry and academia. This two-day event consisted of interesting panel discussions, incredible performances and transatlantic networking opportunities, covering topics such as Leadership, Sustainability, Funding, Artificial Intelligence and Soft Diplomacy. SIREUS, is a three-year-long collaboration project between The Swedish American Chambers of Commerce (SACC-USA) and thirteen Swedish universities, which focuses on knowledge exchange in innovation, science, and entrepreneurship. Additionally, the project aims to increase talent mobility for both students and researchers between Sweden and the U.S.

On Sunday March 26, Nordic Lodge No. 708 (Vasa Order) will host a presentation by Dr. Anita Gustafson of Mercer University, entitled "Jenny Lind on Tour: The Nightingale, the Showman, and the Making of a Celebrity." Many Swedes are familiar with the famous Swedish opera singer from the 1840s and -50s, though perhaps not with her wildly successful American tour in 1850. The story is a fascinating one, that reflects both the promise and the challenges of the young and growing United States of those years. Fika will be shared at 4 PM before the presentation.
