With less than a month left to Sweden Day, we are busy preparing for the biggest Swedish celebration in the Southeast. This year we are pleased to announce that Ms. Monica Enqvist, Head of Public Diplomacy at the Swedish Embassy in Washington, D.C will be one of our speakers. We are also excited for the return of Swedish pop artist Ulrika , who recently competed with her song Fire in Swedish Radio P3's Unsigned Artists Top 10 Competition. A Royal Birthday Celebration
King Carl XVI Gustaf had his 72 nd birthday on Monday last week, which was greatly celebrated in Sweden with festivities taking place at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. According to tradition, the King was celebrated with a 21-gun salute, flag waiving and Swedish military marches.
Did you know that King Carl XVI Gustaf has reigned for almost 45 years - making him the longest-reigning monarch in Swedish history!

ABBA Launches New Music

Swedish pop group ABBA recently announced that they are recording new songs.

I Still Have Faith in You will be released in December and will also be a part of the ABBA avatar tour next year, where the quartet will be illustrated as holograms of how they looked during their final tour in -79.

Take the opportunity to apply for a travel grant from the Bicentiennal Swedish-American Exchange Fund! It will award grants to opinion makers of up to SEK 30,000 each for proposed study visits of two to four weeks by Americans to Sweden, and Swedes to the United States.
Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Swedish citizens and the t ravel grants are awarded for projects during 2019.

The program especially supports the fields of politics, public administration, working life, human environment, mass media, business and industry, as well as education and culture.
Deadline to apply is May 31 2018.
