Dear SACC Texas Members and Friends,
As we kick off 2025, I am excited to share some exciting developments and upcoming events that will continue to strengthen the ties between Sweden and the United States. As I write this, I have just received the inspiring news that Houston will soon have a Swedish Consulate General. This is an explicit acknowledgment from the Swedish government of the remarkable business activityin Houston and across Texas and the immense trade potential between Sweden and the region. This development will undoubtedly increase Swedish companies’ awareness of Texas and the many opportunities The Lone Star State offers. With a growing innovation landscape, strong industry sectors, and a thriving business climate, Texas continues to be a strategic gateway for Swedish enterprises looking to expand in the U.S. I also want to take a moment to congratulate the Swedish community in Houston - your dedication and efforts in highlighting Houston and Texas as key businesshubs have played a significant role in making this happen. Your work continues to strengthen the Sweden-Texas connection, and this is just the beginning of even greater collaborations ahead.
The recent presidential election has brought both challenges and opportunities for Swedish companies operating in the U.S., and navigating the evolving landscape requires insight and strategic planning. Fortunately, within our SACC Texas network, we have many experienced companies and individuals that are ready to assist and provide guidance. If you have any questions on how to adapt to the current situation, please do not hesitate to reach out to our board members who are always willing and able to assist - we are here to support our members in this dynamic environment.
Furthermore, on the event side, we are honored to announce that SACC Texas, with the local chamber of SACC Austin, has been awarded the privilege of hosting the 2026 SACC Summit - which will be held in Austin in the fall of 2026. This prestigious event will bring together business leaders, entrepreneurs, and policymakers from Sweden and the U.S. to foster collaboration and innovation. It will serve as a vital platform for discussing key industry trends, investment opportunities, and trade relations. More details will be shared in the coming months at www.sacctx.com as we begin planning for what promises to be an outstanding gathering, and we welcome input from our members to make this a truly exceptional event.
In the meantime, we have an action-packed year ahead, with numerous SACC events taking place across Texas, including Houston, Dallas, and Austin. These events will serve as key platforms for networking, business development, and strengthening Swedish-American relationships. Whether you are a long-time member or new to the community, these gatherings will provide valuable opportunities to engage with like-minded professionals and industry leaders. By attending, you will not only gain insights from industry experts but also build relationships that can lead to future partnerships and business ventures.
To stay updated on our latest events, member activities, and networking opportunities, we invite you to follow us on our social media channels:
One of the highlights of our upcoming calendar is our engagement at SXSW in Austin. We are organizing a series of events that will bring together Swedish and American representatives, including a special dinner for Swedish delegates and a powerful presentation by SACC Houston board member Siavosh Derakhti at our membership company Eleiko's HQ. Siavosh will be speaking on "Breaking Barriers & Inspiring Change", a topic that resonates deeply with our mission to foster collaboration and mutual understanding between our two nations. His experience and knowledge in promoting social inclusion and leadership will undoubtedly offer valuable perspectives to our audience. This is an event that is free to attend, but requires you to sign up, so we invite you to reserve your spots as soon as possible as we have limited seats - sign up here.
Finally, we are also delighted to welcome our new trainees for the spring, Meg Holmin and Julia Vadström, who recently graduated from Lund University in Sweden. They will be working with us to support our initiatives and contribute to the growth of the Swedish-American business community in Texas. We encourage our members to connect with them, as they bring fresh perspectives and enthusiasm to our network. We look forward to their contributions and wish them a fantastic experience with SACC Texas!
I look forward to seeing many of you at these events and working together to further strengthen our dynamic Swedish-American business community in Texas. Let’s make 2025 a landmark year for our growing network!
Best regards,
Rickard Blomberg
