Committee Update
Tanisha Jenkins, President

Greetings SACSA!

As we overcome challenges and seek opportunities each and every day, we are honored to have the privilege of educating the next generation. Therefore, it is critically important for us to gather together on November 3-5 in Myrtle Beach, SC to continue to build ways to educate, advocate, cultivate, and heighten our purpose in student affairs.

As we build on the history of SACSA, let us not forget about the resiliency of our colleagues in the Carolinas. In the coming days, we will share information about how we can best serve and support our friends during this crucial time. Remember, SACSA Serves and SACSA Cares!

It is vital that we are all engaged in the governance of our Association, so please do not forget to vote on the recommended changes to the bylaws and the election of new officers. The deadline to vote on both is Friday, October 12.

Our conference planning committee has worked diligently and Myrtle Beach is ready and awaiting our arrival! I look forward to meeting you at the BEACH!

With SACSA Love,

Tanisha L. Jenkins
President

2018 Undergraduate Symposium

Do you consider yourself as an advocate for students?
Are you mentoring a student who is interested in the field of student affairs?
Are you looking for a way to support the future of our field?

The 2018 Southern Association for College Student Affairs (SACSA) Conference with NASPA Region III and the South Carolina College Personnel Association (SCCPA) is hosting the fourth annual Undergraduate Symposium on November 3rd from 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. in Myrtle Beach, SC. The Undergraduate Symposium is only $50.00. Students who attend both the Symposium and conference will only pay the student rate and have the $50.00 waived.

The Symposium will serve as an opportunity for undergraduate students to learn about the student affairs profession in community with current student affairs professionals, graduate students, faculty, and their peers while also connecting with SACSA leadership. Students attending the symposium will examine the current landscape of higher education; reflect on their undergraduate leadership experiences; gain insight into the graduate school search process; and learn tips for networking and "working" the SACSA/NASPA Region III Conference.

To register your students, click here.

Be an advocate for the future of our profession and support a student as they discover their purpose in Student Affairs . If you have questions or need more information, please contact Christopher Ndiritu, SACSA Undergraduate Symposium Coordinator

Backpack Buddies Project

At the SACSA Conference we will have a Backpack Buddies project to support Hurricane Recovery. We want to fill as many backpacks as possible to help individuals impacted by Hurricane Florence.
How can you help?
  • Donate Personal Care Items & Backpacks: Baby wipes, soap, deodorant, comb/hairbrush, shampoo, toothbrush/toothpaste, chopstick, hand sanitizer, bath towels, and nail clippers.
  • Promote the project: We need your help to tell others in your department and on your campus about the SACSA Hurricane Recovery backpack drive. Start a collection on your campus and bring collected supplies to the conference. Each and every donation makes a difference in the lives of those impacted by the hurricane.
