Committee Update
Tanisha Jenkins, President

Greetings SACSA!

I hope that you have had a great beginning to your fall semester and are excited about all of the new and returning students that we have the opportunity to serve this year. The beginning of a new academic year provides us with the opportunity to continue to build upon the strong foundation that has been laid for many, many years.

Since 1949, SACSA has continued to uphold the Association's Core Values of Inclusiveness, Professionalism, and Collegiality. As your Executive Council has worked tirelessly for the betterment of our beloved Association, we have always kept SACSA's core values at the forefront of all of our decision-making. Within the next week, you will receive an email requesting for you to review and vote on revisions to the SACSA Bylaws which includes the addition of a new executive council position. A special thank you to the Executive Council and specifically our Member-at-Large, Dr. Angela Taylor for her work on the SACSA Bylaws this year.

The clock is ticking and time is quickly passing. Before we know it the month of November will be upon us and it will truly be SACSA TIME! As we prepare for November 3-5, I would like to remind you to register for the conference and reserve your hotel room soon. J I look forward to seeing you all at the BEACH where we will be Building ways to Educate, Advocate, Cultivate, and Heighten our purpose in Student Affairs.

With SACSA Love,

Tanisha

PresScholarMessagePresidential Scholar Message
From the Inaugural SACSA Presidential Scholar

As a first-year graduate student, I was extremely eager to attend SACSA - I heard so many great stories about SACSA from my mentor at my undergraduate institution. When I heard about the SACSA Presidential Scholar internship, I could not pass up the opportunity to become involved. After receiving the news that I got the position, I was elated! I was also intimidated to be working alongside such esteemed professionals in the field. My anxiety surrounding the position quickly dissipated because the executive council embraced me with open arms.

My time as the SACSA Presidential Scholar has been nothing short of wonderful. I was involved in decision-making processes that affect the conference and organization as a whole. This experience aided in my development as an emerging student affairs practitioner-educator. The SACSA Presidential Scholar internship equipped me with skills and knowledge I would not have gained in any other setting. I am so grateful and honored to be involved in an organization centered on inclusivity, professionalism, and collegiality. I am excited to expand my network and for our members to experience the greatness we have planned for the upcoming conference. So gear up, it's almost SACSA time! I'll meet you at the BEACH!
