SAES NOTES - DECEMBER 2020
Advent Prelude

I need Advent this year.
I need to hear that Jesus did not come to a postcard perfect stable
With fluffy lambs and sweet scented cows
I need to remember that he came to an empire of oppression.
He came in the dark, where the rich took and the poor suffered.
I need to remember that when God took a stand he didn't send battalions
He sent a baby ready to suffer with us.

I need to see light in the darkness.
I need to remember that the darkness will not put it out.
I need Emmanuel, need God with us, not against us.

I need Advent this year.
I need to know that there is a task ready to my hand as I watch,
Need to remember to watch! Be awake!
I need to know that though the heavens and earth will pass away
The Word will not pass away.
