SAFE CFI Insurance Now Quoted and Bonded Within Minutes!

For the first time, SAFE aircraft liability insurance for CFIs is available almost instantly, without the long, drawn-out paper applications required for most other CFI policies.

"SAFE members can now buy SAFE CFI insurance online, pay with a credit card and get confirmation of their new policy almost instantly, usually not more than five minutes," said Jim Anderson, Senior Vice President of Starr Aviation in Arizona, which underwrites the special CFI insurance.  "Previously, flight instructors would have to wait weeks for protection when instructing in a non-owned aircraft, such as one owned by a new student eager to learn to start flying."  The no-delay liability insurance from Starr Aviation is available through Aviation Insurance Resources.

First offered in 2010, SAFE's unique insurance provides liability coverage up to $1 million dollars for flight instructors, with sub-limits of $200,000 per passenger and up to $200,000 for damage to the aircraft.  Coverage for "negligent instruction" is extended to CFIs for aircraft damage during any dual flight instruction, flight review or checkride the CFI performs.

SAFE membership is required to buy the coverage. The SAFE CFI coverage has many features not included as standard features by competing CFI insurance policies, including covering for multi-engine, seaplane, and professional liability.

SAFE's instant CFI protection through AIR is now available in 49 states, with approvals pending for Alaska.

For more information and to start your application, please log into the "Member's Area" of the SAFE website and select the "CFI Liability Insurance Programs" link.

SAFE Signs Letter of Understanding with Alliance for Aviation Across America

Formed in 2007, The Alliance For Aviation Across America (AAAA) is a non-profit organization helping to raise awareness about the value of general aviation -- particularly for rural communities.  AAAA is a coalition of over 6,300 individuals, businesses, agricultural groups, FBO's, small airports, elected officials, charitable organizations, and leading business and aviation groups.

SAFE signed a Letter of Understanding with AAAA this past month wherein SAFE and AAA will support mutual efforts to develop safety awareness training, and promote SAFE / AAAA programs and initiatives when and where appropriate.

SAFE Inputs into FAA Flight Instructor Open Forums

SAFE, in collaboration with the FAASTeam, has been creating the Power Point presentations for the ongoing Flight Instructor Open Forum series since it's inception. The presentations are designed to bring together CFIs and DPEs to discuss areas of instructional best practices.

The most recent presentation to be accepted by the FAASTeam is an updated presentation on Teaching Stalls and Spins, scheduled for presentation during the 3rd fiscal FAA quarter between April and June, 2015.

The next topic to be scheduled will be on teaching the transition from Legacy Instruments to Glass and vice versa. If you have expertise in this subject and would like to participate in the creation of the presentation please contact Doug Stewart for more details.

SAFE Testimonial

I am proud to be a member of (SAFE) Society of Aviation Flight Educators. SAFE represents the top aviation educators and is a professional organization.  I have found these top notch SAFE educators are happy to serve as mentors for me as I grow as a flight educator.

I believe that SAFE pursues improved learning materials for aviation education, is actively involved in aviation education issues, professionalism and accreditation. SAFE is a supporter of the Master Instructor Continuing Education Program which I strongly support as a means for flight educators to develop professionally and have some form of accreditation.

Thank you SAFE leaders for all that you do.

Best regards,

Jeanne MacPherson
