Liebe SAGA Alumni and Friends,

As we head into spring, with sunnier days and the sprouting of trees and flowers all around us, I took a moment recently to reflect on the growth of SAGA's active, vibrant community over the last couple of years.

Recent community-building opportunities included our annual cultural event, Kinderfasching, and our annual Book Fair, which included a partnership with Secret Garden Books in Ballard for English language books and also offered a plethora of German language books. Our student Running Club participated in the St. Patrick's Day Run this past weekend. Recently, we partnered with the Austrian Club to host rehearsals for their Viennese Ball polonaise and quadrille performances. We also hosted a "SAGA at the Sounders" game event, where we witnessed the still deep connection between our alumni and current students. Many of our alumni students are also returning to support and volunteer at various events.

A strong sense of community is at the heart of creating a warm, flourishing, secure, and successful school environment. Up next: we're in the process of planning our annual Flohmarkt (Flea Market) for this spring. Keep your eyes on your inboxes for more details! We encourage all SAGA alumni and friends to join public events such as this, and participate in volunteer opportunities to foster the future of the school.

It appears some orders were placed without the "SAGA Bookfair" designation; without this, the store won't know to deliver your order to SAGA.

Seeking Host Families for College Exchange Students

Shoreline Community College (SCC) is seeking host families for German college-age students in the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX) program–the same program in which SAGA's own Philip Dengler participates!

Students arrive in August 2024 and attend fall classes at SCC, then pursue internships and community service in winter/spring. Students return to Germany in mid-summer 2025 after a gathering in Washington, D.C. Host families receive $225 per month. Interested parties can email Yushin Wung before April 18, 2024.
