Sage Day in Boonton is serving up school with a side of culinary flair starting February. We are excited that the success of last year's Culinary Arts Program has made it possible to offer it this year to both Boonton and Rochelle Park students. The comprehensive program covers aspects of the food service industry including: communication, problem solving and of course, food preparation techniques.

K.P., a graduate of the program last year, has used her skills to make omelets for her family. She would like to eventually become a pastry chef and own a cupcake business. When asked why she signed up for this course again, she replied, " I want to cook more, cause it's fun! "

Another student from last year went on to work with the course instructor, Chef Michael Schmitt of The Mountain Lakes Market and The Lakeside Cafe. Chef Michael has worked with students in school programs, as well as taught home cooks and food service professionals in other venues such as the esteemed Williams Sonoma cooking programs.

Registration for this 10 session, after-school program closes on February 14. The registration form and program fee are due to the school offices at that time.

We look forward to seeing, hearing and smelling our next generation of culinary artists at work!

The second half of the school year began on Monday, January 28th with the creation of two 7th grade classes formed from  one larger class in order to maintain smaller, more personable class sizes. There will be no change in teachers assiged to the academic classes. Two additional paraprofessionals will be hired to support each subject area allowing a dedicated paraprofessional in each content area for grades 6-8. Report cards for the second marking period were mailed on Friday, January 25, 2013.

Ms. Amanda Wagner has joined the therapy team bringing the number of clinicians to three under the supervision of our Clinical Director, Alison Hipscher. Exciting times are ahead and your encouragement, involvement and support are appreciated.
