#1 Sanctuary City Initiative Jeopardizes Public Safety Dollars
While the Sanctuary City Initiative (Prop. 205) may be well-intentioned it is overly broad and does not make Tucson a safer community. In fact, if passed, it will prohibit the City from conducting joint operations with several law enforcement agencies including the FBI, DEA, U.S. Marshals and the Secret Service. It also puts millions of dollars in State and Federal Dollars at Risk. The City already has policies on the books, crafted with the ACLU, related to immigration intended to preserve positive relationships with Tucson's immigrant community.
#2 Bylaw Update Complete
For the past year, an adhoc task force has been working on updating the SAHBA bylaws. In the 10 years since the last update, our association has evolved and the bylaws needed to be updated accordingly. It was also important to be consistent with recent changes to the NAHB bylaws. The changes were officially approved on August 12.

One key change relates to how members of the Board of Directors are determined. Beginning this year, for the 2020 Board, any SAHBA member in good standing may be nominated for one of three (3) "At-Large" positions. All nominees will be considered by the Nominating Committee. The window for nominations will be open between October 1 and October 31.

Be on the lookout for an email with the official nominating form on October 1.
#3 Make Connections at the Home Show
Did you know volunteers at the SAHBA Home & Garden Show have an opportunity to network with fellow members and meet dozens of businesses?

It's simple, if you are looking to get involved and make connections sign up for a volunteer shift. Your support ensures we will continue to be the "Best Show Ever Built." Sign up here! .
#4 Opportunity to Get in Front of Future Employees
We have all read the news stories, and many member companies have experienced it first-hand; the construction industry is facing a labor shortage.

SAHBA is working to do something about it...and we need your support.

We are developing a "speaker's bureau" of members who would be willing to talk with students about careers in home building and the construction trades.

If you would like to lend a hand please contact David Godlewski at or 795-5114.
#5 We Want to Hear from You: How's Business?
In an effort to keep our fingers on the pulse of what's happening with our member businesses, we'd like you to take this brief survey.

We're trying to assess whether our economic momentum is showing any signs of slowing down.

This data will help shape and inform the programs and services we offer.
