First day of School for incoming Freshmen
Friday, August 9th, 2019
9:00 am - 11:00 am
Dear  “Saint Nation!”
It is with great excitement and anticipation that we welcome you to the new 2019-2020 school year.
You can expect great things as we start to engage and interact with you knowing that it will be the 130th year built on tradition, excellence and pride. More importantly, having the opportunity to reconnect and continue to foster positive relationships with our new and returning students and families to make the “bright light” in Central Santa Ana, shine even brighter makes it that much more satisfying.
This year like last, we will be starting school one day earlier -  Friday, August 9th for all of our new incoming 9th grade  “Saints” (Please see attached schedules below). At this time, we will be reviewing norms and positive expectations, formally introducing you to key “Helpers” and personnel, providing tours of areas on campus that are critical to student success, reviewing student schedules for any problems or incorrect information, and allowing  ALL FRESHMEN STUDENTS to transition seamlessly prior to the first of day of school, district wide, on  Monday, August 12th. Additionally, we want this special day for the Freshmen to be focused on a quality, focused, intentional, and highly nurturing first day and impression of  Santa Ana High School.
Again, our Returning 10th, 11th and 12th Grade  “Saint’s” first day back from Summer Break will be - Monday, August 12th. These students can arrive early in case they cannot access their schedules online through their AERIES account. Schedules will also continue to be posted in the Small Gym on campus on the first day as we have done in the past years. There will also be plenty of staff on campus to help students and parents experience a positive and welcoming “first-day” of the new 2019-20 school year.
We will all experience another record breaking, exciting and satisfying school year ahead as we all look forward to the multiple “ Examples of Opportunity and Excellence that Exists at  Santa Ana High School  on a Daily Basis.” My wish for  “Saint Nation” this coming year is that each and every day is great, that everyone finds a reason to smile and that each student that occupies a seat at Santa Ana High School is… “ HAPPY!”
Best Wishes for the 20019-2020 School Year!

 "Tug-of-War" Lineman Competition
" Saints " Stronger Than Most - WIN "Tug-of-War" Lineman Competition During Huntington Beach High School Passing League Tournament...
After a full day of tough football at the HBHS Passing League Competition, a young " Saint " Team continued to embrace their role as CHAMPIONS, this coming year, while setting their sites on yet another Orange Coast League Championship. With the opening game only weeks away, Coach Tagantvoort's " Saints " are paying attention to the "small things" and gearing up for a TOUGH pre-season schedule. Although the lineman and skill position players were participating in their own activities today, it appeared as if " Saint Nation " is in for another exciting year of "Friday Night Lights" and SUCCESS! You could actually feel the great hope and positivity from both the " Saint " Coaching Staff and the players themselves.
Skill Position" Passing Summer League
Young "freshmen" Saints " competed in the Villa Park, "Skill Position" Passing Summer League. Focusing on their "attention-to-detail, " Coach Tagantvoort "T" and his coaching staff could be heard on the sideline shouting both encouragement, motivating phrases and specificity on how to get better. It's always refreshing to overhear opposing parents make comments about the intensity, respectful way that the coaches interact with "Our Kids" and the dignity and professionalism that so overt and evident. One group of parents were musing over the way Coach Meza "lite the kid up... and built him right back up with positivity and support. "Our Kids" are so fortunate to have the adult role models who are going to be shepherding them throughout the next four years, into, through and beyond towards college or career. Many, like last year, will continue to enjoy Division 1 and various other college or university experiences as a result of Coach "T's" (and his staff's) efforts and guidance. Today's freshmen, winning 3 out of the five games, walked away better than when they started the passing league event. In addition, they were Another Example of the Opportunity and Excellence that Exists at Santa Ana High School on a Daily Basis...
