Teachers in Lesson Study Cohort 2 Cross-Content
Tremendous Professional Development for "Saint" Staff...
Lesson Study IS moving the "Academic Needle" at Santa Ana High Schoo l. Knowing that " Saint Nation " had the highest GROWTH on the SAUSD (SBAC High Stakes Testing) at the Secondary level, Lesson Study with 6 more teachers, was valuable and will be applied directly with students on Day #2.
Because of the work by Robyn and Linda (UCI) and the teacher's willingness to operate as, "life-long learners, teachers will be teaching their students to "deconstruct" a prompt given on a rigorous test like SBAC during the next iteration of Lesson Study Day 2. Collaboration, Identifying Challenges that students face that prevent them from being academically successful and identifying and creating common Instructional practices -- all result in better student results and teacher satisfaction. Win - Win!
And.. Another Example of the Opportunity and Excellence that Exists at Santa Ana High School on a Daily Basis...

SAHS wind ensemble honored of working with Dr. Dustin Barr
The wind ensemble had the honor of working with Dr. Dustin Barr, Director of Bands at California State University, Fullerton. He had the kids laughing, implementing new concepts, watching and most importantly new ways of listening. He was able to extract so much great music from my students and truly enlightened me on new ways to approach teaching. I felt as if I was back in the classroom learning new concepts. What a great day for both my students and myself.
School Site Council Meeting
Students leading Santa Ana High School's School Site Council (SSC) is unique and more, "POWERFUL BEYOND MEASURE!" Conducting meetings is not always an easy feat. Interestingly, parents, staff and administrators participated in an authentic and caring way. Because it was the first meeting of the school year and new SSC members, it was long and "Our Kids" were superstars. learning to lead by actually leading is the BEST. Santa Ana High School is in good hands with great students, great parents and a great caring staff.
Santa Ana High School - Making Special Education Even Better.
Santa Ana High School - Making Special Education Even Better....Special Education Teachers engaged and participated in a FULL Day Pullout to Collaborate together, Learn together and Unite together, to become our best possible selves for our most vulnerable and needy students. Our students' success depends on their experience in the classroom each minute they spend with us. It's certainly a "labor of LOVE" and it takes special teachers to ensure that "Our Kids" time with us is the best hours of their day.
The " Saint " Special Education Staff is the largest in the district because we have one of the largest enrollments in the Santa Ana Unified School District and we are lucky to have so many unselfish, caring, and professional Special Education teachers.
Logan Barrio Celebration Puts Santa Ana High School's, Marching "Saints" Front and Center...
The Marching " Saints ," booked since last year, marched PROUD today in celebration of one of the many important neighborhoods that even today, stands tall and PROUD. Some of "Our Kids," and parents - and their parents, grew up in the Logan Barrio. Marching down the street, one could not help but feel the history, Pride and Culture that filled the air. The powerful sound from "Our Kids" was well received and appreciated by all of the Santaneros that lined the Streets and culminated at Logan Chepa's Park. As Band Leader extraordinaire, Victor de Los Santos received a plaque honoring Santa Ana High School and the best Band in the business, one could not help notice the clapping and smiles of respect and joy. No wonder the Marching " Saints " are always being asked to perform at numerous events all around Southern California- Today was such a benchmark day!
Another Example of the Opportunity and Excellence that Exists at Santa Ana High School on a Daily Basis...
Akari introduced her movement program, "Embody Me" to our SanArts Dancers. She had the girls swaying, shouting, jumping, hugging, clapping, tapping, and expressing themselves with utter freedom. This was the first step before the dancers experience a 3 day weekend in the Idyllwild mountains with Akari this November. This is exciting curriculum...The look on the dancers faces says it all!
