Translations of SA8000:2026 Working Draft

Chinese, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish translations of the SA8000:2026 Standard (Working Draft) are now open for public comment until August 11, 2025. The purpose of this review period is to ensure that the intent and interpretation of the Working Draft are maintained when translated into key languages.   

We welcome comments from any interested stakeholders on the accuracy and effectiveness of the translations. Comments on the translations will be reviewed by a committee of technical experts with proficiency in the relevant languages. New Resources Available

For Labor Inspectors and Community Facilitators to Support Labor Rights

Local actors ensure long-term change by raising awareness of rights and preventing and detecting labor violations. These new resources to empower local actors were produced by MY Voice, our project dedicated to combating forced labor and child labor in Malaysia’s garment and palm oil industries, but are useful to similar stakeholders in other countries and sectors.   

• Community Facilitator Training Manual and Primer (Malay and English) 

These resources are designed to enable local actors to build awareness of labor rights in their communities and to serve as a resource for workers and their families. They provide essential information on topics such as training development, effective communication, anti-discrimination, forced labor, child labor, and gender-based violence and harassment.  

• Training Note for Labor Inspectors (Malay)

This interactive training tool for labor inspectors includes case studies, reflective exercises, and quizzes. It provides details on laws and regulations related to forced labor, child labor, workplace sexual harassment, and inspectors’ legal authorities to address violations.

Mobilizing Communities

Community and local action are powerful channels for protecting workers’ rights and reducing the risks of forced labor and child labor. As part of our Palma Futuro project (2019-2024), SAI worked closely with communities throughout Ecuador and Colombia to form and implement Community Circles – spaces for dialogue where community members and leaders can identify local problems and develop and implement their own solutions to address them. Members also help raise awareness to promote labor rights and address child labor and forced labor in their communities.    

In recognition of World Day Against Child Labor on June 12, we shared a few examples of creative methods developed by Community Circles to address child labor.
