SAI COVID-19 Relief Funds Support Worker and Community Engagement in Tirupur
In October 2020, SAI allocated COVID-19 relief funds to Vizhuthugal, a small nonprofit in India that supports migrant workers and their families in the garment sector. With SAI’s help, Vizhuthugal was able to reach over 2,000 people in fifteen mills through mental and physical health pop-ups, OSH awareness programs, skill and capacity-building trainings, youth workshops, and an emergency relief distribution reaching hundreds who live in and around the Erode District, benefitting mainly migrant workers and vulnerable populations. Call for Participants: New Blockchain Platform Enabling Garment Manufacturers to Showcase Production Capacity and Labor Performance
SAI is now welcoming garment manufacturers in Bangladesh and India to pilot an innovative blockchain-based platform hosted by SAI and technology partner, Vertru, to improve production planning and advertise capacity, quality, and labor compliance to brands.The Platform is ready and garment manufacturers in Bangladesh can access it at no cost, gaining access to new tools and free training. The Platform also includes a Production Capacity Calculator and a mechanism for improving capacity measurement and forecasting practices. Read more.
