February 2023
Our Mission: Build Leaders and Lead Collaboration among Government and Industry to Develop Multi Disciplined Solutions to National Security and Infrastructure Challenges
From the President:
Greetings Fellow SAME Members!

I hope you are off to a good start for 2023. Our Post has a lot of activities planned for this year, so keep watching our monthly Newsletter for the updates.

Our next event is our Bowling Happy Hour on Thursday the 23rd and we look forward to a fun night of strikes and spares! Please follow the directions on your receipt to fill out the base access form ahead of time to help for a smooth entry onto the base.

As a Post one of our missions is to support the future of our industry and as such, I ask that everyone get involved at some level with our current and future workforce leaders. We have many opportunities at all different levels of their path for you to get involved:

  • K-12: Volunteer with the K-12 STEM program and Science Fair judging.
  • Entrance into College: Support our fundraising efforts through our Sponsorship opportunities so that we can continue to provide college scholarships.
  • College: Come to our lunch program in March at George Mason University to support the Civil Engineering Institute and learn what the Engineers for International Development are doing here and abroad. Help us with reinvigorating our GMU Student Chapter.
  • Young Professionals: Watch and support our Leadership and Mentoring Program. Meet the LMP participants at our events and help support them in their leadership growth.
  • Transitioning Professionals: Every year SAME National provides a Career Transition Workshop to help veterans transitioning out of service and into industry as well as all levels of professionals looking toward a change in their career.
  • Veterans: We support Veterans by connecting them with other great organizations with immense resources.

Please consider volunteering your time or resources so that we can continue to pour into our members and our industry’s future. Our Sponsorships for 2023 are available. We could not survive as a Post without our Sponsors!

This is our Post. This is our Society. This is our community. Together, WE are the Society of American Military Engineers!

Thank you for your continued support!

K-12 Mentoring - Volunteers Needed
Thank you to our members who have supported mentoring at Lewis High School in the past months. The students really appreciated your feedback, and the science teachers look forward to continuing these mentoring sessions.

If you haven't joined us yet, please consider volunteering your time to mentor our future STEM leaders. Even if you don't have a lot of time, that's ok, a small investment in time is possible, and several opportunities can be done virtually. All volunteers are welcome regardless of background or expertise.
