Hello NoVA Post! Our July 14^th Golf Tournament was a great success and was wonderful to see so many of you at the Penderbrook Golf Club. THANK YOU for your support and contributions to our scholarship recipients and campers who attended many of the DoD STEM Camps this year!

Please stay tuned for registration opening up for our next meeting at the Army Navy Country Club on August 11^th for a (1) Awards ceremony for our members and sustaining firms (2) U.S Navy Shipyard Improvement Optimization Program (SIOP) Update.

Due to limited availability of many of our incoming board members, we are rescheduling our Annual Change of the Board of Direction to later in August or early September.

THANK YOU!!!

To all our Sponsors and all of our Golf Players! We had a successful day on the Course and were able to raise money for our next year of Scholarship recipients.

We had four of our Scholarship recipients as well as three of our STEM Campers join us for our lunch.

Our Pro for the day was Professional Long Drive 2021 Player of the Year, 2X World Amateur Long Drive Champion Scottie Pearman. We thank him for joining us to help raise money for our scholarships and his charity and for sharing his story with us.

NAVY SIOP Presentation

The Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program’s (SIOP) mission is to execute the Navy’s once-in-a-century investment to reconfigure, modernize and optimize our four aging Naval Shipyards into new modern facilities that will serve this Nation into the future. Our August event will include our Post Awards.

Leadership and Mentoring Program Update

The SAME NoVA/DC/Mid-Maryland Posts have been planning and coordinating the 2022 Leadership & Mentoring Program. We are proud to host 16 participants for the 2022 class which is focused on developing future leaders of the military, government, and industry.

On June 23^rd, we all met at the Army Navy Club in DC with Mr. Philios Angelides, President of the Angelides Group, and discussed Marketing and Business Development Strategies. Sorry – no picture this time. Next, LMP is meeting at the National Museum of the U.S. Army at Fort Belvoir on July 20^th.

Joint Opportunity

SAME NoVA Post has been invited by the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) to have firms participate in a private, invitation-only nationwide Virtual Career Fair focusing on STEM employment. The career fair will be held on

Wednesday, August 24

11:30 AM to 1:00 PM ET.

The virtual event is being offered for employers seeking transitioning servicemembers (all ranks), veterans, surviving spouses, and military spouses for professional remote and teleworking career opportunities. The virtual event, hosted on the Brazen platform, accommodates 1:1 live audio/video features in addition to the chat functionality.

For those employers looking to boost their visibility and capture the attention of attendees, MOAA offers enhanced booth features including prominent booth placement, company logo/website in the lobby sidebar, and the opportunity to share broadcast messages to all attendees (see an online information sheet for sponsorship opportunities). Be sure to take advantage of an exclusive opportunity to view registered candidates’ resumes in advance and invite them to a scheduled chat session during the live event. Please look for additional details on the employer registration page to select this highly valued option to pre-screen and then connect one-on-one with candidates.

MOAA has reserved 5-7 virtual booths for SAME member firms. This is a superb opportunity to speak with current / recent transitioning military personnel who are looking for positions, the vast majority with security clearances. This is a free event, unless firms what an enhanced booth presence as described in the link, for modest donation fees.

In addition MOAA has a upcoming virtual event that is free and open to all ranks of transitioning servicemembers and Veterans, along with the military and surviving spouse community.
