Dear Friends,
Our seasonal market in San Anselmo will be reopening the first week of June on Wednesday June 9, 2021. PLEASE NOTE............ We are changing our day of operation from FRIDAYS to WEDNESDAYS for the 2021 season. This year will mark our 17th season of operation in San Anselmo. Thank you Marin for your continued support! without the community there is no Farm Stand.

We are featuring this week Pasture Raised Free Range Farm Fresh Eggs from Bromwell Farms, Bolinas. Like a ray of sunshine, Mary Bromwell's Araucana chicken eggs have become an increasingly common sight at all Marin Community Farm Stands over the past few years. The pale blue shells never cease to delight our customers. But even more importantly, the small flocks that are on pasture are what I call the "Happy Hens" that produce the most amazing orange and red yokes that are like a ray of sunshine. Thank you, Mary, for producing such an amazing organic food so easy on the eye and so good to enjoy.
We are fully stocked with sweet spring strawberries from Rodriguez Farms and they continue to wow with outstanding texture and flavor. Once you taste these you will agree they are superior and have no equal!
The best way to store them is to refrigerate fresh strawberries in shallow containers as soon as you get them home. Be sure to wash these organic Swanton strawberries in cold water only when you are ready to use them.
We have restocked Wild King Salmon this weekend! Our fresh Alaskan Wild King Salmon is sourced through Anna's Seafood based out of Petaluma. Anna's network of Alaskan fishermen delivers fresh line-caught Wild Alaskan King Salmon to THE FARM STAND. You can enjoy fresh or smoked!
Many of our customers ask us for new ways to prepare Wild Alaskan King Salmon. I have collected exotic recipes and brought them together for a quick and easy read.
Did you know asparagus can help you meet your weight loss goals? Not only is asparagus low in fat and calories (one cup is a mere 32 calories), but asparagus also contains lots of soluble and insoluble fiber making it a good choice if you want to lose weight.
When you prepare asparagus with a hard-boiled egg the combination of fiber-rich asparagus with the egg's protein will leave you feeling very satisfied! You can learn more about asparagus prepared this way courtesy Health Magazine's online digital newsletter.

Still more about asparagus! It is amazingly versatile and can be steamed, simmered, roasted, battered, grilled, sautéed, even wok-fried. Thinly sliced, it’s wonderful raw in a salad. Cooked asparagus spears can sport a variety of seasoning, from simple salt and pepper seasoning with butter or olive oil to more complex sauces. Asparagus also holds up quite well to bold spicy treatment — anchovy, garlic, olives and chiles are all highly asparagus-compatible.
Asparagus is a great source of fiber, antioxidants and B-complex vitamins. It is also a great source of vitamin K, which is important in promoting neural health and has been used in the treatment of patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Be sure to store your asparagus in the refrigerator in your high humidity drawer. You can reinvigorate stalks that look wilted by trimming the bottom 1/2 inch of the stalk and placing the ends in water. This way they absorb moisture and stay fresh. Asparagus is so easy - you can steam or stir fry the stalks and then serve with a bit of lemon. Or if you want to do something fancy, try making soup.
