May 19, 2023
Dear Saint Andrew Catholic School Families,
Today was the last Friday for our 8th Grade student and the last full Friday for all our Wildcats for the 2022-2023 school year!

On Monday, 8th Grade students will enjoy a full day of graduation festivities beginning with the 8th Grade Breakfast followed by the Candle Lighting and Robing Ceremony, after which 8th Grade students will take their final walk through the building as students of SAS. 8th grade students will then be dismissed for the day. The Graduation Mass and Ceremony will begin at 6:00PM that evening in the church, and all graduates are invited to stay for the Graduation Dance in the cafeteria immediately following the Mass and graduation ceremony. Congratulations to all our soon-to-be graduates and their families!

Congratulations to the 8th Grade students on their win against the SAS faculty and staff during the Annual 8th Grade versus Faculty/Staff Volleyball Game that took place today! This marks the second year in a row that faculty/staff have lost to the 8th Grade students….something to work on for next year!

Information regarding Summer Reading requirements will be sent home by next Tuesday with the oldest or only child in each family. Please look for that in your students’ backpack. We will also have it posted on the school website.

Next Friday, we will conclude the school year with an all-school Mass at 9:30AM. Students may still wear spirit wear this day. In lieu of class parties again this year, students will receive a Sno-Cone treat provided by Home and School. Dismissal will be at 12:00PM that day; no lunch service will be provided but After School Care will be available until 6:00PM.

End of the year Report Cards will be mailed to all families the first week of June.

Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to welcoming our Wildcats back for the last Monday of the school year next week!

Saint Andrew, Pray for Us!

Blessings,
Laura Behee, M. Ed.

Summer Solutions
Summer Solutions is back – an excellent way to keep your student on track! This program is a spiraling review designed to bridge academic content and basic skills over the summer months.

Summer Solutions options include:
  • Math
  • Reading
  • English
  • Spanish
  • Study Skills
  • Problem Solving

You will have the option of choosing “original” or “standards” versions. We would recommend the “original” version for all subjects.

IMPORTANT: If you choose to order, please make sure to choose the Summer Solutions for the grade level your child is currently in for the 2022-2023 school year. For example, if your child just completed grade 4 this year, you would choose the grade 4 level summer book(s). Please click HERE to order.

End of Year Reminders From the Clinic

  • If your child keeps medications in the clinic, please remember to pick them up. We cannot keep medications over the summer. Any left will be discarded.

  • If your child will need to keep medications in the clinic next year, we will need new paperwork completed. We have a new medication form for the 2023-24 school year. Epi Pens have extra paperwork that must be completed.

  • Physicals are only necessary for new students and students participating in sports (kinder through 8th). Physicals must be dated May 20, 2023 or after. Click HERE for a copy of the Physical Form.

  • Students entering Kindergarten and 7th Grade are due for immunizations. If I am missing records for your child, I have already emailed you.

We are looking for an additional nurse on Tuesday/Thursday to help in the Clinic. Please let us know if you are interested!

Uniform Resale
There will be a “resale drop off” basket located in the front foyer for easy donation drop off next week! Uniform Resale will also be excepting donations over the summer. Drop off any out grown uniforms in usable condition (no holes or noticeable stains) to the “resale drop off station” located in the office foyer during Summer office hours.

Donation rule of thumb: If you wouldn’t put an item to be worn by your child to school or Mass, resale can not sell. Be on the lookout for our emails through the summer months letting families know of upcoming dates for summer resales.

Thank you Megan Corpening for chairing our SAS Uniform Resale!!!!

SAS Class of 2019 Video

One of our favorite end-of-year traditions is to check in on our SAS alum who are graduating from high school. We are always so proud of their accomplishments!

Calendar Info for the 2023-2024 School Year
Please find the calendar for the 2023-2024 school year in the link below.

The most notable changes to the calendar include:

  • Number of Days to Minutes: As a diocese, we are moving to counting the total number of instructional minutes rather than counting the total number of instructional days in the school year as we have always done in years past. In order to meet the total number of required minutes for the school year, we are adding 2 minutes to the start of the school day. Therefore, the bell will ring, and the school day will begin at 7:48AM. Dismissal at 3:20PM will remain the same.

  • The First Day of School is Wednesday, August 16, 2023. We will attend Mass that morning (all school) and will have an Early Dismissal at 12:00PM.

  • Monthly Diocesan Inservice Days: The Catholic Schools Office has implemented monthly Diocesan Inservice Days that all diocesan faculty & staff will attend. There will be NO SCHOOL on those days.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
