Kegonsa fifth-graders explore Jamestown through Google Expeditions
Fifth-graders at Kegonsa Elementary School recently had the opportunity to experience a Google Expedition on Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in North America. Thank you to Mrs. Rosenberg for setting up and teaching this lesson!
The Google Expeditions program allows teachers to take their students on virtual field trips using Google Cardboard Viewers and smartphones. These trips are collections of virtual reality panoramas — 360° photo spheres, 3D images and video, ambient sounds and more, according to Google.
Stoughton High School students helped Google pilot the Expeditions program in 2016 after the school was selected to be a Pioneer Program School. Last school year, the Library Media Specialists together purchased a Google Expeditions kit that includes 30 goggles, a computer tablet and router. The Google Expeditions kit rotates among all five schools.
