OUR SOURCE OF STRENGTH

From a child in elementary school, we are taught to compete in athletic sports, in spelling bees, in the grades we get and more. We are a competitive nation. We all want to be the winners, and many will do anything necessary to come out on top.

Winning is not a bad thing, because the Apostle Paul tells us to press into the promises for the prize. (Philippians 3:14.) The problem is that we often try to win relying upon our own strength. When our natural strength becomes weak, then often we fail; and many times, we become very discouraged and want to “quit.”

When we learn that God’s strength is made perfect in our weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:9) then we rely on the Lord in every area of our lives. He is our strength. He gives strength to the weary.

In Isaiah 40:31 it says, “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.”

The key in this verse is “wait” which means to “look to, bind together, patiently tarry. Can you see yourself bound together with God? With him being the stronger party, you never have to fear about the outcome.  His strength becomes our strength if we are bound together with Him.

Our strength is renewed through that close intimate time that we spend with the Lord. When we do this, we are refreshed and not weary, we do not faint at the challenges. We know that he is walking with us, carrying the heavy load.

He is our source of strength!

"And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me."

John 17:22-23 KJV
