THE KEY TO HOLY LIVING

I Peter 1:15-16 says, “But as He (Christ) which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation (behavior), because it is written (In Leviticus 11:44), ‘be ye holy, for I AM holy’ (said God).”

What does it mean “to be holy?” and what does it mean “in all manner of conversation? “Conversation” here is the Greek word “anastrophe” which means “behavior.” It speaks of our lifestyle, not about our verbal interactions with people.

The word for “holy” is the Greek “hagios” which means pure in heart (purpose, intentions) and to be morally blameless. In other words, it means to live your life in a sinless manner.

What does it NOT mean “to be holy?”  It is not piety, a public display of how pious (or religious) you are. Jesus criticized the Pharisees and Sadducees for such piety as an outward show when in reality they were not “pure in heart.”

It is not found in following a system of “Do’s and Don’ts”. That is a legalistic form of religion bent on “earning” God’s approval; it is a form of works. Essentially, “holy” means to live a life free from sin, or sinful habits or patterns of behavior. It means we shall be “clothed” in the righteousness of Christ Himself and not from any so-called “righteousness” we try to earn.

Yes, we are likely to slip up and sin occasionally, but not in our manner of living (conversation in KJV). When that does happen, we confess it to God, and it is forgiven. That is promised as said in I John 1:9 which is written specially to those who are saved, we the believers where it says, “If we confess our (daily) sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” That, my friends, is how we maintain a holy life in God’s eyes.

FREEDOM ISN’T FREE

As I reflect on Memorial Day, I have been thinking that there isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t enjoy freedom. Because there were those that went to war to keep the world safe and America free, we wake up without chains on our ankles just for being a Christian. We wake up with the ability to go about and do daily activities without fear of being put in prison for being a Christian. We can go to the grocery store, and food is readily available. We have fresh air and water. We wake up daily without bombs going off, and explosions from terrorist attacks in our local communities. There are so many things that we take for granted my friends.  We also have freedom to love God in this country. At this point we have the freedom to worship openly and not have the fear of being arrested and tortured for our faith like some countries. COVID19 has been used in so many parts of the world to control any religious activity. I thank God for the Governor of Florida that put a stop to that in our state.

We are a blessed nation that was founded on Godly principles. Yet, it seems today that so many Godly principles are being eroded from homes, school, and our own government. Evil is called good and good is called evil. We have let ungodly men rule, and it has changed the destiny of this nation. We must stand up for what is right and be determined to make a difference in this country. We can make a difference. We can let our light shine in the darkness that is overtaking this land. We must fight the fight of faith for the innocent ones being exposed to evil.

Let us never forget that freedom isn’t free! Someone paid the ultimate price of their lives, so this country is free. Let’s determine as the Body of Christ to make a difference! Remember as Christians our first priority is to God. When God is lifted up in a nation then things change. I pray that our country repents of its sin and has godly sorrow so God can bless this nation once again.  Let’s put God first and take back this land! Be blessed so you can be a blessing!

Teaching children to listen and obey is often a difficult task. This short story is about Jason who learned the hard way about not listening when he went down a trail to trouble.

EXHORTATION

With Memorial weekend upon us, I want to personally thank every person that has been in the military and served their country! I also want to thank those in ministry as Pastors, Prophets, Teachers, Evangelists and Apostles for staying the course so others can grow and be equipped. I also salute each of you that have been prayer warriors and have carried the burdens in others' lives to the throne of God and brought victory that most will never know about. I salute each of you and thank you for making a difference!

PROPHETIC EXHORTATION

Religious folks forget that God used the most unconventional people with the most terrible backgrounds to manifest His greatest works.

They have also forgotten that because the Pharisees were so engrossed in their religious routines and legalistic arguments, they missed the Messiah that was standing right in front of them. And they missed Him because He was unconventional, and He challenged their ways and process of thinking.

Need I remind you that King David was an adulterer and a murderer, yet his line (with Bathsheba) not only produced King Solomon, but became lineage of Jesus Christ, Himself.

Many forget that a murder of Christians (perhaps thousands) wrote two-thirds of the New Testament.

Jesus sat and waited at a well for a woman that had been married five times and was currently "shacking up" with a dude.

Jesus' disciples consisted of tax collectors, doubters, zealots, the insecure, arrogant, the young, and a thief.

Jesus first revealed Himself to a former prostitute after His resurrection. THEN, sent HER to tell the others...

So don't find yourself missing out on opportunities to be light and salt, or even hearing the voice of the Lord because you're straining out gnats, while swallowing camels.

Of course, this is not to justify a person who is continuing to live in sin. But the statement this DOES make, is that God is not concerned about the crap of your past. He's only interested in the now: and are you willing to be a vessel of His will.

Remember: God has no respect of persons. He used a jackass to talk to a dude on the side of a mountain....and it saved his life.

EXHORTATION

If you remember Saul took his own life by purposely falling on the same sword that he once threw at David in anger. (I Sam. 31:4) We must keep in mind that jealousy and anger are a dangerous and even a deadly combination; And they will often serve as a boomerang. Yes, the very same venom and wrong you give out to others; Will most definitely come back to you in some form at some point in time. Just as it did with Saul when he became so very angry with David; For no reason other than...Pure Jealousy.
