"He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.."

STATE OF THE UNION

Most of us if asked what State of the Union means would usually say it is a message given by the President in January as to the conditions of the United States.

The Lord spoke clearly to me a few minutes ago and said “State of the Union” but He said it means something entirely different than a political message. In any country, a godly leader always thinks of the good of the people in any decisions that he may make. Likewise, in our relationship with God we must always realize that everything we do will either reflect our love for God, or love of self.

God is inquiring about our “State of the Union” with him. He wants our union with him to be so close that we make no moves, decisions, or plans without first consulting Him. He wants us to spend time with Him listening to what He has to say.

In any relationship of intimacy, there must be a two-way conversation. One talks – the other listens. One doesn’t interrupt until the other is finished with what they have to say.

Sadly, the Lord has shown me that many Christians have a poor relationship with Him. They may attend church, occasionally read their bible, but their “State of the Union” has much to be desired. They have not put him first above all others, and all things.

Our number one priority in life as a Christian should be to have communication continuously with God. Jesus is coming back for His bride, and He wants you to know him so well, that when your name is spoken that you know it is Him speaking. He is interested in every little and big thing that is going on in your life. He longs for time alone with you. He wants His “union” with you to be excellent, and so full of love that nothing will satisfy you but Him, and time spent with Him.

Matthew 6:33 sheds some light as to how to do this. It says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” When we choose to seek God before everything else, He takes care of the “everything else” and your “State of the Union” with him is good.

How is your “State of the Union?” Is your life reflecting His love? Is He pleased with you? If not, now is a good time to get things right.
