DRAMATIC ACTING FOR THE CAMERA!

Take 1 or more sessions while Wendy is in town!

Wendy Faraone is an influential TV and Film Director whose most well known for her work on the Disney and Nickelodeon channels. If you have studied with Wendy in the past at ACANY, you more than likely learned multi-camera acting technique for sitcoms.

However, it is imperative that actors also begin to learn single camera technique as well!
Single camera shows are more often than not dramatic shows, or when used in a sitcom, these are the more understated and dramatic moments within an episode.

Learn the art of performing dramatic scenes for single camera television shows from one of the industry’s most in-demand professionals, Wendy Faraone!

Wendy states, “Technically all of my shows are hybrids of single and multi right now. Take a look at JUST ROLL WITH IT! There’s a ton of single camera shots in that show!”

Focus of Class:
• Create a believable character for a naturalistic performance
• Develop the tools needed for single camera dramatic acting , such as: playing naturally in your eyes and focusing on subtext, voice and relationship
• Work on grounding and truth-telling
• Learn how to play a believable role while being aware of camera angles

All scenes will be played back for critique.

Receive one-on-one coaching from the comfort of your own home from Artistic Director, Jessica R. Grosman.

Before founding A Class Act NY in 2005, Jessica worked in commercial casting in both NYC and CA!

Commercial acting is harder than it looks and is very different from other genres of acting like Stage, Film or TV acting.

In this 2 hour workshop, you will learn the art of commercial acting and audition technique!

Learn how to analyze commercial copy and find the acting beats within the text to make a lasting impression in the audition room and on advertising execs!

Focus of Class:
• How to analyze and break down commercial copy to find the selling points within the text
• Learn how to nail your slate
• Learn how to sell a product without being too over the top
• Proper commercial acting and audition technique
• Learn lingo that is specific to commercial auditions and on-camera acting

At the end of the class, we’ll have a short Q&A for parents and students (time permitting).

Materials will be distributed via email a few days before class, and students will be expected to have it accessible during the class.

Most recently, Ali won a Tony Award for her portrayal of Ado Annie in the 2019 revival of OKLAHOMA! She has also been seen on TV Shows such as GLEE (FOX), TEN DAYS IN THE VALLEY (ABC), and THE BOLD TYPE (FREEFORM).
