SAUSD CANCELS ON-CAMPUS INSTRUCTION THROUGH END OF 2019-20 SCHOOL YEAR
For the safety of the Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) community, Superintendent Jerry Almendarez announced this week that the District is cancelling all end-of-the-year activities and on-campus instruction through the end of the 2019-20 school year. SAUSD DISTRIBUTES 500,000+ FREE MEALS TO CHILDREN DURING TEMPORARY CLOSURES
SAUSD has served more than 500,000 free meals to children since the temporary campus closures began. Meals are served three times a week at 13 select school sites in a grab-and-go style that protects the health of all. Click here for a distribution schedule.

SUPPLEMENTARY LEARNING PACKETS AVAILABLE ON SAUSD STUDENT PORTAL
SAUSD is providing printed and digital learning resources during this time to ensure that all scholars have the opportunity to engage in meaningful learning. These supplementary learning enrichment packets complement activities outlined by classroom teachers, and can be downloaded from the SAUSD Student Portal at www.sausd.us/studentportal.

SAUSD Extended Learning Programs has launched a new webpage featuring virtual enrichment opportunities offered by community providers, including karate and mariachi lessons. Students are now able to access new activities, resources and information daily. Extended Learning has also created a storytime virtual library. FILL OUT YOUR 2020 CENSUS FORM TODAY!
The 2020 Census has arrived! Responding to it is extremely important to ensure that our community receives a complete count and all the resources that it needs. The self-response phase has been extended to August 14, 2020 because of the COVID-19 outbreak; Santa Ana’s self-response rate so far is 48 percent. Please take a few minutes to respond at 2020census.gov, and visit our SAUSD Census webpage for more resources.

‘VIDA’ CAST READS SCRIPT WRITTEN BY HENINGER STUDENT
Did you know that SAUSD’s Heninger Elementary participates in the Youth Cinema Project (YCP), started by actor and producer Edward James Olmos? This week, the cast of the show “Vida” conducted a live reading of a script written by Heninger student Aaliyah Espana, as part of the school's connection with YCP. This month, actors from popular Latinx shows are reading scripts written by students at YCP schools that are temporarily closed due to COVID-19 concerns. Click here to watch!
