Segerstrom High School Earns 2023 California Exemplary Counseling Program Award
Segerstrom High School has earned the 2023 California Exemplary Counseling Program award from the California Association of School Counselors! Executive Director Dr. Loretta Whitson delivered the surprise news this month to the counseling team while district staff and leadership - including Board Clerk Hector Bustos - cheered them on. Segerstrom is the second school in California to earn this recognition. Click here for photos.

American School Counselor Association Names Santiago K8 and Lowell Elementary ASCA Model Program
The American School Counselor Association has awarded Santiago K8 and Lowell Elementary School the title of a Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP). Both school counseling departments were honored at a recognition ceremony at ASCA’s annual conference in Atlanta this summer. Read more here.

SAUSD Students Learn About Courtroom Roles During Justice League Summer Camp
SAUSD scholars learned about courtroom roles and the anatomy of a trial during the 2023 Justice League Summer Camp at Santa Ana High School! Students gained hands-on experience with evidence, motions, cross-examinations and more under the guidance of staff, volunteer attorneys and OC Superior Court Judge Elizabeth G. Macias - an SAHS alumna and namesake of the school’s legal academy. The three-day camp wrapped up with a mock trial and awards ceremony. Click here for photos.

The District hosted a delegation from the Korean Educational Development Institute at Santa Ana Valley High School this summer. The group watched presentations highlighting a range of programs offered to all SAUSD students, including career technical education, ethnic studies, visual and performing arts, International Baccalaureate, dual enrollment, and more.
