SAUSD Announces 2024 Classified School Employees of the Year!
SAUSD Board of Education Member Katelyn Brazer Aceves, accompanied by Superintendent Jerry Almendarez and other District leaders, recently honored seven outstanding Classified School Employees of the Year in surprise visits to their work sites on Jan. 10, 2024. With festive balloon bouquets, each recipient was acknowledged for their exceptional service and dedication to the District and its students. The formal celebration of these honorees is scheduled for an upcoming Board of Education meeting in May. Furthermore, their names will be submitted to the Orange County Department of Education for potential recognition in the county's 2024 Classified School Employees of the Year awards. This year’s honorees are: Bertha Amezcua, Mayra Ordonez, Matias Miranda, Erika Pereyra, Mario Nieto Mireles, Elvira Villela, and Paul Lam. SAUSD Superintendent Almendarez Hosts First 2024 Advisory Committee, Showcasing VR, AI, and Project-Based Learning
SAUSD Superintendent Jerry Almendarez hosted his first Advisory Committee of 2024 on Jan. 16, 2024. Community leaders, parents, and school administrators joined together to explore new educational tools currently being implemented across the district. The focus was on hands-on demos of VR goggles, AI programs, and project-based learning exercises. The Santa Ana Public Schools Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2023-24 Spark Innovation Grants. Nine dedicated educators from various schools have been selected for their outstanding proposals. These exceptional educators will receive virtual reality headsets to enhance their teaching methods, creating immersive and engaging learning experiences for their students. During this time parents may enroll new students, request transfers, and participate in the lottery process for fundamental schools. Learn More About Spring 2024 CAASPP and ELPAC Testing
In SAUSD, there are many ways that we measure a child’s learning. Teachers use report card grades, classroom work, teacher observations, and end-of-year statewide test results to get a complete picture of students’ learning. For the 2024 spring administration of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) and the Summative English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC), students will continue to take their assigned tests in-person.
