The resolution, which also proclaims May 21-27, 2023 as Classified School Employee Week, recognizes that through the collective work of teachers, support staff and classified employees, the children of Santa Ana will be provided a world-class education to ensure that they are college and career ready. Martha Patarroyo, a Family And Community Engagement liaison at SAUSD’s Davis Elementary, has been selected by State Assemblymember Avelino Valencia as a 2023 Woman of Distinction for Assembly District 68. Each year, the California State Legislature encourages Legislators to highlight and honor deserving women for service to their community in honor of Women's History Month. Congratulations, Martha!

SAUSD’s Support Services, in partnership with Neutral Ground and Project Kinship, recently hosted over 100 at promise youth for the semi-annual Empowerment Conference at Cal State Fullerton. Students learned about the importance of finances and how to present themselves in a professional manner. They also created a vision board to motivate them for their future goals, explored the campus on a tour led by CSUF staff, and heard remarks by keynote speaker James "JC" Cavitt.

Congratulations to the 300 elementary and intermediate students from nearly 30 schools who participated in the SAUSD Cinco de Mayo Speech & Debate Tournament on May 6, 2023 at Saddleback High School! Scholars showcased their skills in various categories, from extemporaneous speaking, to impromptu speaking, to Spanish interpretation. For a list of final rankings, click here.
