WILLARD'S INTEGRATION OF THE ARTS HIGHLIGHTED DURING SUMMIT

SAUSD's Willard Intermediate was highlighted during a recent "Satellite Summit" held by the Kennedy Center's National Committee for the Performing Arts, in partnership with the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. The event featured a panel discussion on social justice, citizen artistry, and arts education, along with a special performance of "Walls" by Willard's dance team. Inspired by the students' experiences with immigration, "Walls" represents the barriers that keep families apart. Willard partnered with Turnaround Arts: California in 2016 and has been actively using the arts to fuel school change since. To watch a video highlighting Willard and the dance piece, click here
