ROAD TO A BETTER FUTURE SCHOLARSHIP CAR SHOW
Segerstrom High School held its annual Road to a Better Future Car Show on May 23, 2019 at the campus. What began as a simple idea to what has now become an annual event that not only allows the school to raise money for the scholarships, but has also given the athletic boosters the opportunity to raise funds for their teams. This year, thanks to the car show proceeds and the donations gathered from staff members, parents, and local businesses, they were able to double the scholarships that were given last year, giving out a total of $6,000 in scholarships to well deserving recipients, in hopes of supporting their "Road to a Better Future." SAHS NJROTC DISTINGUISHED UNIT AWARD CERTIFICATE
Santa Ana High School received the Distinguished Unit Award Certificate last week. It is the top award that an NJROTC Unit can earn. It is based upon a variety of factors, including participation in Field Meet competitions, Air Rifle competitions, Academic competitions, and SeaPerch (STEM) competitions (in which the cadets make an underwater remotely operated vehicle and have to navigate it through an obstacle course). Another major factor in the Navy determining if a unit has earned Distinguished Unit status is the events that it hosts. The SAHS unit hosted the Naval Service Training Command Area -11 Field Meet Championship (Superbowl), the Raider Challenge (a physical fitness competition) and a three-day Basic Leadership Training evolution on campus this school year. The SAHS unit has been awarded the Distinguished Unit Award for the last 19 years.
