SAUSD ROLLS OUT ‘WIFI ON WHEELS’ TO HELP STUDENTS CONNECT TO INTERNET
Students in the Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) who struggle connecting to their virtual lessons because of spotty internet coverage will soon receive support from school buses and vans traversing the city, offering 5G WiFi access points. SAUSD has partnered with JFK Transportation to send “WiFi on Wheels” vehicles to some of the communities with the densest populations, and spotitiest internet service. Five WiFi vans were deployed this week; eventually, as many as 150 buses and vans will be available. To read more, click here.
35 SAUSD SCHOOLS RECEIVE STATEWIDE PBIS RECOGNITION
Thirty-five SAUSD schools have been recognized with the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Community Cares award by the California PBIS Coalition. The schools received the distinction for their outstanding contribution of support and care during the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting disruptions. In recognition, the names of these schools will be displayed on the California PBIS Coalition webpage, here.

The first day of school in SAUSD looked very different this year, as the District transitioned to distance learning in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, families made the best of these unforeseen times and continued the tradition of sharing first day of school smiles through the District’s annual #SAUSDFirstDay photo contest. SAUSD is currently providing all instruction online, for the health and safety of our school communities amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Laura Gomez, a third grade teacher at Martin Elementary, recently took time out to give a behind-the-scenes look at what a typical morning is like for her, teaching students through distance learning. In honor of the start of the new school year, SAUSD is unveiling a new series of videos introducing our School Resource Officers to the community. School Resource Officers work closely with site administrators, District Safety Officers, and the SAUSD community, to ensure a safe educational environment. SAUSD LAUNCHES FAMILY TECH SUPPORT LINE, WEBPAGE
SAUSD has launched a Family Tech Support Line, a way for parents/students to call for tech support or referrals of devices that are not working properly and for help logging in to distance learning platforms. The District has also launched a webpage featuring helpful videos on how to use various apps and programs. Click here for information on both.
