Lawsuit challenging injustice, Ubeid v. Chicago Jewish Alliance, is moving forward.
A Cook County Judge denied defendants’ two motions to dismiss in an Anti-Doxing lawsuit brought by CAIR-Chicago.
A Chicago area resident brought the lawsuit after the Chicago Jewish Alliance (CJA) targeted him for displaying anti-genocide signs outside his home that said, “Stop babies starvation, genocide Israel" and "Free Palestine". The alleged doxing by CJA included coordinated efforts on social media and email campaigns to pressure his employer to fire him, in addition to sharing his home address—further putting Ubeid and his family at risk.
As this occurred, this man’s family members continue to suffer at the hands of Israel's genocide. He is currently supporting an injured nephew's evacuation from Gaza to seek medical treatment, following an airstrike that martyred Ubeid's other family members. While Zionists dox him in America, they are simultaneously denying Israel's genocide and bombardment of Gaza, which results in his family's death and displacement.
In a contentious hearing, CAIR-Chicago Staff Attorney Noah Halpern zealously argued on behalf of Ubeid. The judge sided with CAIR-Chicago last week, denying the motions to dismiss and advancing the lawsuit forward into the discovery phase under Illinois’ “Civil Liability for Doxing Act”.
We are establishing that doxing and coordinated harassment has consequences.
This is an important step forward. Stay tuned for more updates:
