Greetings!
Yom Hazikaron, Israel's Memorial Day for the Fallen Soldiers of Israel and Victims of Terrorism, is immediately followed by Yom Ha'atzmaut, Israel's Independence Day. Within 24 hours the nation goes from a state of mourning to one of celebration, in acknowledgement of the fact that the Jewish people owe the independence of Israel to the almost 24,000 soldiers who sacrificed their lives for it.
Every year, in communities across the globe, millions of Jews gather to honour those lost in defense of Israel and to celebrate the thriving Jewish homeland. This year, sadly, these events aren't possible as we practice social distancing. But we have learnt in the past few weeks that social distancing cannot keep our community apart! We came together on Yom HaShoah and we will come together next week!
Jewish organizations around the world have made sure that we can all take part in Yom Hazikaron ceremonies and Yom Ha'atzmaut celebrations from the comfort of our home. Below are details about the online events for Yom Hazikaron and Yom Ha’atzmaut between April 27-29.
We hope you will take part in some or even all of these events.
