On December 4, 2024, SAWDC hosted the Building a Student Internship Meeting and Panel Discussion, featuring an outstanding panel of experts: Jeremy Doggette from AM/NS Calvert, Kay Jett from Riviera Utilities, and Jamie Williams from Panini Pete Hospitality Group.

The panelists shared valuable insights and real-world experiences, sparking active engagement and thoughtful discussions among attendees. The session proved to be both inspiring and practical, equipping participants with actionable ideas to develop or enhance their internship programs.

We were thrilled to introduce our Internship Program Guide during the session, providing attendees with a comprehensive resource to create impactful internship opportunities.

Stay tuned for more initiatives as we continue to build pathways for student success and cultivate a future-ready workforce in Southwest Alabama!

SAWDC is thrilled to collaborate with the Office of Early College Programs at Bishop State Community College to deliver an engaging career exploration experience for 9th-grade students. This initiative is generously funded through a Community Foundation of South Alabama grant.

Recently,194 students from Citronelle High School had the opportunity to participate in interactive simulations, highlighting career pathways that align with the workforce needs of our region. Through this hands-on approach, students gained valuable insights into potential career options, sparking inspiration and awareness about their futures.

We look forward to continuing these impactful experiences with more students across the region!
