Dear Homeowner,
As you are aware, Burrtec began delivering the 65-gallon organic waste containers this morning on the Palmer side. We anticipate the Palmer side will be completed today and Burrtec will continue onto the Stadium side as early as tomorrow. As mentioned in our original notification dated October 31, 2024, this is due to the state mandate, SB 1383. The City of La Quinta is required to provide organic waste collection services to all residents and businesses, with no exemptions.
The Board and Management empathize with homeowners and recognize that some units have limited storage space available. The Association advocated on behalf of homeowners, requesting exemptions or alternative solutions. Burrtec representatives reviewed these concerns and determined that adequate storage space is available within unit garages. After December 2024, you may contact Burrtec and request that your 65-gallon container be exchanged for a smaller 35-gallon container.
The Association’s staff is labeling each container with the corresponding address. If you are in residence and your container has already been labeled, we kindly ask that you store it out of sight from common areas. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as Association staff work to label 1,417 containers.
Burrtec collection services will continue to occur on Monday, unless it is a holiday recognized by Burrtec. Please note that Burrtec offers a service whereby they will retrieve your barrels from a predesignated location, empty the barrels, and return the barrels. This program facilitates residents who are unavailable to ensure that their Burrtec containers are put out in time for collection and returned to their location at your home where they are not visible from common area.
Thank you for your understanding and assistance as we comply with this state of California mandate.
Respectfully,
Management
