CalRecycle’s monthly public meetings include reviews of pending department decisions; updates on department actions and priorities; and opportunities for public comments. SB 54 Advisory Board Meeting - March 21

CalRecycle will host an Advisory Board meeting for the implementation of Plastic Pollution Prevention and Packaging Producer Responsibility Act (the Act; Senate Bill 54, Allen, Chapter 75, Statutes of 2022). During this meeting, the Advisory Board will discuss: 

• Next Steps and Advisory Board Role to Advance the Regulations 
• Status Update on the Needs Assessment Studies 
• Review and Discuss Draft Content for the Advisory Board “Barriers & Solutions” Recommendations Report

Two Weeks Left to Nominate for SB 54 Advisory Board Positions

The 2025 Application Process for the Packaging Producer Responsibility Advisory Board will be closing on March 28, 2025, at 5:00 PM PDT. This is a reminder to send in application materials by the deadline if you are interested in serving on the Advisory Board. Existing Board members must submit a new application to be considered for reappointment. ICYMI: Gov. Newsom Pulls SB 54 Regulations

In Case You Missed It: Governor Newsom ordered Cal Recycle to pull back the current draft of the SB 54 regulations and directed the department to redraft them. CRA, along side a coalition of other stakeholders, raised concerns on the 222 page regulatory package and its impact on consumers, especially as the cost of living is at the forefront of concerns to Californians.
