January 1, 2023
Let me begin by wishing you a Happy New Year on this first day of 2023! Who would have thought that in this decade of the 21st century we would be retrogressing, addressing what we thought was safe, secure, settled and sure? Who would have thought that we would be revisiting the tyranny of injustice, the oppression of systemic corruption, economic and political subjugation in so many facets of life? The year 2023, is reminiscent of what we find in the book of Ecclesiastes, “History repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing is new under the sun.” (New Living Version).
We are reminded in Ephesians 6:12-18, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore, take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
In addition to scripture as the foundation upon which you stand, the words of James Russell Lowell in The Present Crisis remind us that, “Once to every man and nation comes the moment to decide, in the strife of Truth with Falsehood, for the good or evil side; And the choice goes by forever 'twixt that darkness and that light.”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in his poem entitled “A Psalm of Life” describes life with its twists and turns and closes the poem with the admonition, “Let us, then, be up and doing, With a heart for any fate; Still achieving, still pursuing, Learn to labor and to wait.”
Following are dates that require your presence and prayers.

We will also have one combined Sunday School class on this, the 5th Sunday of this month.
Happy New Year, blessings, grace, love and peace,
-Pastor

The City of Los Angeles seeks to connect all Angelenos to employment opportunities, including those who may face barriers to employment. The Targeted Local Hire Program and the Bridge to Jobs Program are efforts to help under-served and under-employed populations find an alternative pathway to rewarding Civil Service careers with the City of Los Angeles. These two programs create a unique opportunity for individuals to enter into Civil Service outside of the City’s traditional pathway. Please click the buttons below for more information related to each program.

"The Biden-Harris Administration launched a new nationwide Test to Treat initiative in March to give individuals an important way to quickly access free lifesaving treatment for COVID-19. Through this program, people are able to get tested and – if they are positive and treatments are appropriate for them – receive a prescription from a health care provider (either on-site or through telehealth), and have their prescription filled all at one location. These “One-Stop Test to Treat” sites are available at thousands of locations nationwide, including pharmacy-based clinics, federally-funded health centers, long-term care facilities, and community-based sites. In May, the program was expanded to include federally-supported Test to Treat sites. People can continue to be tested and treated by their own health care providers, health care clinics in their community, and telehealth providers who can appropriately prescribe the oral antivirals to locations where the medicines are distributed."
