• 2019 Aerospace & Defense Small Business Industry Day - October 3, 2019 - This event is designed to bring together small businesses and prime aerospace contractors to create greater collaboration and opportunities for new business. This statewide contract opportunities fair will give attendees an overall look at what is happening in the Colorado aerospace industry, sessions on business topics, networking, as well as matchmaking opportunities with prime contractors for small businesses.   1. Runway Extension Act: Congress Strikes Back - Recently, the House Committee on Small Business passed H.R. 2345, “Clarifying the Small Business Runway Extension Act” which, in no uncertain terms, tells SBA it has to implement the Runway Extension Act before the end of 2019.
  2. New bill wants to speed up small biz payments - Four House lawmakers have introduced legislation that would shorten the amount of time small business wait to get paid by federal agencies for work done on contract. Under the proposed “Accelerated Payments for Small Businesses Act,” small businesses working as prime contractors or subcontractors would get paid within 15 days versus the current standard of 30 days..
  3. LAUNCH WINDOW: Space command center could put Aurora into a new orbit - Three states have apparently made the final cut for the future home of the military’s newest combatant command: Alabama, California and Colorado. Aurora’s Buckley Air Force Base is reportedly one of those finalists, as are Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, Peterson Air Force Base, and Schriever Air Force Base.

Trump Wants U.S. Treasurer Jovita Carranza To Lead Small Business Administration - President Trump says he intends to nominate Jovita Carranza, the U.S. treasurer, to lead the Small Business Administration after former pro-wrestling executive Linda McMahon announced last week that she was stepping down.

The Procurement Technical Assistance Program is powerful because it connects small business with federal government.The Defense Logistics Agency, part of the Department of Defense, funds the Procurement Technical Assistance Program to increase the number of vendors capable of performing on government contracts.
