Redesigned Website
In 2017 we redesigned our website in order to make it more user friendly for both our members and the general public. We increased information for OTARD and broadband along with improved our dealer locator to help consumers find a local sales professional in their area.

Member Benefits
In 2017 SBCA created a number of new member benefits.

Business Insurance- SBCA partnered with Bouchard Insurance to provide our members with a one-stop shop for their business insurance needs. This program meets the contract requirements recently encountered by ATT and DISH.

Retailer Locator- As mentioned above the new retailer locator on our website is designed for consumers to easily find a local dealer. We list the dealers name, web address and type of services offered. Preferred retailers receive a larger more prominent listing. Additionally we list all of the states the dealer does business upon request.

Career Center - This site provides links from the career sites of our corporate and preferred installation members to help them find quality employees looking for employment within the industry.
Outreach and Advocacy
SBCA took a proactive approach in helping educate HOA's, landlords, municipalities and other groups on consumer rights in relation to the OTARD rule by reaching out to more that 500 organizations throughout the country. In addition we have partnered with publications who focus on property management in order to further increase awareness of the FCC requirements on dish placement.

2017 saw a busy year in our efforts to promote satellite broadband. State legislators have taken a keen interest in finding solutions to bring broadband to underserved areas throughout the US. SBCA staff met with legislators in states throughout the country in order to educate them on the advantages and benefits of the latest satellite broadband services.
Disaster Recovery
2017 saw many natural disasters impact communities throughout the United States. The satellite industry played a significant role in helping communities recover from these disasters.

Our partners at ITDRC installed over 70 satellite internet terminals at locations throughout the country to help local communities establish critical communications services.

The industry provided equipment and service support to floods in West Virginia and Texas, tornadoes in Illinois, fires in California and hurricanes in florida and Puerto Rico. The ability of satellite to deliver essential communications to hard hit communities shows the benefits of our technology and how it can provide essential service throughout the country.

In addition the SBCA Foundation through its Satellite CARES program donated $20,000 to local communities who had been impacted by these disasters. These include purchasing a early warning siren to a small Illinois community which was impacted by a tornado. Helping a volunteer fire departments replace communications equipment damaged in floods and wildfires. The SBCA would like to thank all of those companies and individuals who supported these efforts.
