MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

As you probably know, May has been designated Mental Health Awareness Month. Mental health is an incredibly important element of our overall health. After two years of COVID-living, while managing the stress and pressure associated with living our everyday lives, raising our families, and working for a living, we all need to be aware of our, and those close to us, mental health needs. The stress, isolation, and uncertainty can take a gradual toll on our well-being. The media has also been reporting on the growing signs of mental health symptoms plaguing our society and the need to improve our Nation’s mental health care system.

If you or a loved one has ever struggled to keep their mental health in balance, you might want to learn more about how to celebrate or show your support during this time. Below is a link to “5 Ways to Celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month”:

If you feel something is not quite right, seek support. Here is another link for mental health resources:

Mental health is one of our greatest assets. It helps us focus at work, overcome obstacles, and get along with the people around us. Please keep a pulse on your mental health and your overall well-being.

PS: SBD posted its largest revenue month in its history eclipsing $5M in the month of March. We are tracking well so far for meeting our goals this year. Thanks everybody. Let’s keep it cranking!!!

BEA CACE

SBD’s Cloud Architect Cloud Engineer project (BEA CACE) supports the Bureau of Economic Analysis as the organization migrates it’s vital analytical and infrastructure efforts to the Azure cloud. This three-year effort consists of five main tasks: migrating BEA’s public-facing infrastructure to the cloud and supporting the massive data pulls that occur when new national data is released, recreating and upgrading BEA’s research environments that are used to calculate our nation’s Gross Domestic Product, migrating BEA’s file share system and One Drive solution, migrating their on-premise virtual desktop solution, recreating select on-premise enterprise solutions for a cloud environment, and providing top-notch project management support to ensure all efforts are completed as required and as efficiently as possible. SBD’s Project Manager for CACE, Mark Rawson, is a highly-experienced Azure cloud architect who provides BEA with project management support, Azure expertise, and strategic consulting for the implementation and management of Azure products and solutions in the Azure environment.
DOI SMIS

The Department of the Interior (DOI) Safety Management Information System (SMIS) is the system of record for incident reporting and electronic data submission to the Department of Labor (DOL) for incident investigations. SMIS also collects data on COVID-19 vaccination statuses, inspection and abatement audits, and visitor fatalities. The current SMIS modules are listed below:

  • Incident Reporting - The main module associated with SMIS. It is used by DOI employees, supervisors, and Safety Managers on a daily basis across all DOI Bureaus. It tracks injuries, property damage, exposures, near misses, and hazards involving DOI employees, volunteers, and visitors, and provides reporting to assist in risk management processes.

  • Case Management - Assists Compensation Coordinators in tracking, reviewing, and monitoring compensation claims for DOI employees that were injured on the job.

  • Inspection and Abatement System (IAS) - Used to create, review, and complete annual environmental, safety, policy, and program evaluation inspections at DOI facilities. Inspectors also use IAS to ensure follow-up actions are taken to resolve all reported findings.

  • Vaccination Tracking - Tracks COVID-19 vaccination statuses for all DOI employees to help determine workplace safety measures.

  • Visitor Information Death System (VIDS) - A data entry system to capture and analyze fatality-related data associated with visitors to U.S. National Parks. It assists in evaluating visitor safety risks and implementing injury prevention programs.

Currently, the SBD team’s main effort involves rewriting ColdFusion code into a Vue framework in the Case Management and IAS modules. The SBD team consists of 3 Web Developers and a Project Manager that work closely with another Web Developer, Database Administrator, System Administrator, and Help Desk Specialist/Data Manager. The SMIS team works with the Office of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) leadership, DOI Bureaus, DOL, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to ensure user needs and recordkeeping requirements are met in SMIS.

If you would like more information on SMIS, please contact Ellie at elham.alikhani@sbd2.com.

ADP TOTALSOURCE BENEFITS RESOURCES
SBD's LEAVE BANK PROGRAM!
SBD recognizes that employees may have a family medical emergency or be affected by a major disaster, resulting in a need for additional time off in excess of their available paid time off (PTO). To address this need, SBD will be setting aside an allotment of employees’ annual year-end forfeited PTO hours to assist employees in need of additional PTO.

Employees who would like to make a request to receive donated PTO must have a situation that meets the following criteria:

(a) Medical emergency, defined as a medical condition of the employee or an immediate family member that will require the prolonged/extended absence of the employee from duty and will result in a substantial loss of income to the employee due to the exhaustion of all paid leave available. An immediate family member is defined as a spouse, child, or parent.

-or-

(b) Be affected by a major disaster, defined as a disaster declared by the president under §401 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (the Stafford Act), or as a major disaster or emergency declared by the president pursuant to 5 U.S.C. §6391 for federal government agencies. An employee is considered to be adversely affected by a major disaster if the disaster has caused severe hardship to the employee or to a family member of the employee that requires the employee to be absent from work.

The Program Policy, as well as the Leave Donation Request form are available in SharePoint; click on the links below to access them.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SBD’s EMPLOYEE REFERRAL BONUS PROGRAM AND EARN REWARDS!!

Help us grow! / SBD is hiring! / You can help!
Do you love being a part of the SBD Family? Do you have friends and/or previous colleagues who would also love to be a part of the SBD Family of DOERS? Please send us your referrals! If someone you refer for one of our open positions gets hired by SBD, you may be eligible for additional compensation for that hire.

Though the Talent Acquisition team consistently searches for new talent to join SBD, we’d love your help! You may know someone who is the “perfect fit” for one of our openings. Further, that person may not be out there to be “found” by recruiters. By looking through your connections, you may discover that you know just the right person for one of our openings who we may not otherwise find.

SBD is always looking for talented people, just like you. That’s why, we have an Employee Referral Bonus Program designed to reward you as a thank you for referring qualified candidates to potentially join the SBD family. You are an invaluable resource to the team! Through our partnership with ApplicantPro, we utilize the Employee Referral Portal, an applicant tracking software, to assist in our hiring efforts. The Portal makes it quick and easy for you to share job opportunities and it also streamlines the process! We want to encourage you to invite your colleagues, friends, family, and other connections to apply for jobs they are qualified for within the Company.

  1. It's easy to share jobs right to your social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, or you can click the email option to send the job link to specific contacts.
  2. We encourage you to include a short, personal note in your post or email about why you like working for the Company.
  3. In addition to a general post, you can send the job to relevant social media groups.

When a referral applies for a position using a shared link, the source field on the application will be auto populated for them as an "employee referral" and will link to you specifically upon application completion. It’s that simple! You can view how many referrals have viewed the application and how many people have applied.

As well, SBD will run Employee Referral Contests, an opportunity for additional rewards! When logged into the employee portal, you will see contest information if a contest is active. You can view details about the Current Contest and monitor the Contest Scoreboard. You will also be able to see the winner(s) of the previous contest.

Don’t have time to log in to the Portal, no problem, every Monday, you will receive an email from no-reply@applicantemail.com listing current openings available on the Portal. You can share straight from the email. If an Employee Referral contest is active, the contest details and scoreboard will also display on the email.

Refer qualified candidates and if hired, receive a referral bonus between $100 - $2,500; lawful taxes apply. Refer to the Policy for eligibility requirements and full details.

For more information on accessing the Employee Referral Portal, click here to access the Users Guide in SharePoint.

For questions about the Employee Referral Bonus Program, don’t hesitate to contact Aimee Tucker or Katie Shedd on the Human Capital team.
