Open Business Advisor Position (New)

The Mohawk Valley Small Business Center (SBDC) is now accepting applications for our full-time Business Advisor position located downtown at MVCC's ThINCubator.

Our Business Advisors provide business advisement services to a variety of small businesses and entrepreneurs engaged in starting, managing, growing, or purchasing a business.

Rental Assistance for Landlords (New)

The New York State Landlord Rental Assistance Program (LRAP) will provide economic relief to help landlords by providing rental arrears assistance for landlords whose tenants have left their rental property or who are unwilling to apply for ERAP.
Pandemic Response and Safety Grant Program to Provide Relief to Small Producers, Processors, Distributors and Farmers Markets Impacted by COVID-19
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced a Request for Applications (RFA) for the new Pandemic Response and Safety (PRS) Grant program and encourages eligible entities to apply now for funds. Applications must be submitted electronically through the grant portal at https://usda-prs.grantsolutions.gov/usda by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday, November 22, 2021. Approximately $650 million in funding is available for the PRS grants, which are funded by the Pandemic Assistance provided in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021.

The PRS Grant program will assist small businesses in certain commodity areas, including specialty crop producers, shellfish farming, finfish farming, aquaculture, and apiculture; specialty crop, meat, and other processors; distributors; and farmers markets. Small businesses and nonprofits in these industries can apply for a grant to cover COVID-related expenses such as workplace safety measures (e.g., personal protective equipment (PPE), retrofitting facilities for worker and consumer safety, shifting to online sales platforms, transportation, worker housing, and medical costs. The minimum funding request is $1,500 and the maximum funding request is $20,000.

Grant Opportunity For Female Entrepreneurs

New York State Career Development Opportunities (NYSCDO), Inc. is offering monetary grants to assist New York State women with their 1) business start-up expenses, 2) career-related studies, 3) educational opportunities and/or vocational training and 4) related costs. For example, related costs might include, but are not limited to, emergency childcare, tuition, workshop/conference registration fees, licensing fees, special clothing, or tools/instruments, etc. (Documentation required). Our goal is to assist women who are starting, advancing or changing careers due to unemployment, under-employment, lifestyle changes, or other circumstances which have affected their business, earning capabilities or job stability.

Criteria: Each application will be judged on such factors as financial or personal needs, relationship to business, career, or job training sought, past experience/education/volunteer service, etc. Grants range in amounts from $100 to $1,000.

Acceptable Purposes:
  • Be enrolled or accepted for study in an academic, technical, or vocational certificate or degree program, OR
  • Be enrolled in continuing education credits, entrepreneurship courses, license review programs, etc., required to gain employment, OR
  • Have expenses necessary to start a business, obtain licenses, maintain/enhance your current job or certification, or advance in your career, etc. or obtain clothing, tools/instruments required to pursue a career (documentation required) Eligibility: To be eligible, an applicant must be:
  • A woman 25 years of age or older
  • A New York State resident
  • Able to demonstrate financial need (please discuss/describe your financial need in your brief background statement on the application form.)
  • An applicant is eligible for a grant once each calendar year and cannot receive a grant for more than two consecutive years.
  • Special consideration is given to NYS Women, Inc. members.

Mohawk Valley EDGE Grant Programs
Oneida County Small Business COVID Assistance Grant

The Oneida County Small Business Grant Program, made available through the CARES Act funding, not only can assist small businesses that may have been disqualified by other programs, but also helps to address the additional cash flow needs for a complete post-pandemic recovery.

Oneida County Microenterprise Grant

The objective of the 2021 Oneida County Microenterprise Grant Program is to help startup and existing companies provide new jobs opportunities, keep existing jobs and, ultimately, broaden the tax base of Oneida County, New York. This Program will also incorporate a technical assistance and training component with grant dollars from the NYS Department of Housing and Community Renewal. Technical assistance gained through the program will enhance the applicant's chances for success in their project as well as open up financing opportunities not normally available through traditional lending channels.
