She Believes In Me Newsletter | October 2022
NEW LOCATION
Downtown Hern2

In early June, She Believes in Me moved from our Worldgate location to 761 Elden Street in historic Herndon. There is street parking in front of the building and additional parking in the nearby Washington & Old Dominion Trail Herndon Parking Lot.

We would like to thank Daphne and Gary Rappaport for their generous donation of retail space at Worldgate Shopping Center for 18 months. Their kindness made it possible for us to resume group events, hold after school groups and camps, and continue to assist local families experiencing food insecurity.
SBIM IN THE COMMUNITY
SBIM Begins New Outreach Efforts in Herndon Schools
She Believes in Me has started a new program to provide healthy snacks to children in local schools.
Soon, our volunteers will be delivering food to Coates, Herndon, and Hutchison Elementary Schools. In addition to this effort, we have recently started sponsoring a food pantry at Herndon Middle School!
SUMMER CAMPS

She Believes in Me’s Project Hope group began the summer by attending our 3-day camp. During the week, campers examined pond life at Claude Moore Park, gathered lavender at Seven Oaks Lavender Farm, and learned about coding at Macedon Technologies.
In late July, Floris United Methodist Church hosted our campers at their Herndon campus. Over the week campers participated in a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, shadow puppets, team building games, making nutritious and creative snacks, as well as down time activities like foosball and basketball. Campers learned life lessons in story times with Floris's Kelly Crespin. It was a time of fun and laughter for campers and volunteers alike.
Campers enjoyed a variety of fun activities at the July camp hosted by Floris UMC.
It's slime time at Summer Camp!

WE GET BY WITH A LITTLE HELP
FROM OUR FRIENDS!

Our friends from the National Association of Women in Roofing brought loads of summer fun to our kids.
Local neighbor, Madison Mahan donated summer activity packs to She Believes in Me.
In July, She Believes in Me held a fundraiser at Jimmy's Old Town Tavern in Herndon. Proceeds from the fundraiser helped buy school supplies .
Fundraiser attendees scan their raffle tickets for a winning number.

A Word with Our Founder
What Has Surprised You the Most Since You Started She Believes in Me?

There are two things. First is the anticipation our families have to be connected with the next event or for their Liaisons to come. Second is the goodness of people. We have 500 people volunteering their time with us. There are businesses who hear about what we are doing in the community and then make a donation to us.
