Technology commercialization symposium wrap-up
tech symposium 2016
On December 5th the SBTDC's hosted its annual Technology Commercialization Symposium.
This year's symposium delved into two critical elements of commercialization: Team and Market Assessment.  Presenting at the session were a unique mix of university faculty, local business development resources and successful small tech firms.

Thanks to the generous support of our headline sponsor, Technology Commercialization Carolina, attendees were able to receive a significant discount on the cost of registration.

Call for Proposals from NC Biotech Center
Building a continuum of programs, the North Carolina Biotechnology Center is offering a variety of calls for proposals over the coming months.

These include the:
  • Collaborative Funding grant
  • Biotechnology Innovation grant
  • Technology Enhancement grant


NIH SBIR/STTR Deadline - January 5th
ASSIST helps streamline the electronic submission process, and reduce applicant errors. Try submitting with ASSIST before the January 5 deadline! Have questions? View the ASSIST webinar materials for details » 
 
Applicants still have the option of using the Downloadable Forms method. Please select the "Apply Online Using ASSIST" button, or the "Apply Using Downloadable Forms" button within the SBIR/STTR solicitation.
 
Be sure to use the Annotated SF424 SBIR/STTR Form Set in conjunction with the SF424 R&R SBIR/STTR Application Guide (FORMS-D) to guide you step-by-step through the application process. Applicants also find the Top 5 Most Common eRA Commons Errors and the SBIR Sample Application from NIAID helpful. All resources can be found on our Resources page »

DoD SBIR and STTR Topics Open
The Department of Defense recently announced its topics for both the SBIR and STTR programs. 

During the BAA period, communication between small businesses and topic authors is highly encouraged. During the Pre-Release period, you may talk directly with topic authors to ask technical questions about the topics. Their names, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses are listed within each BAA topic.
 
The pre-release period closes on January 10th.  At this point, direct communication with the topic authors is no longer permitted.
