12 Attorneys Apply to Fill Department C Vacancy
Nevada Supreme Court Justice Lidia Stiglich announced the Nevada Commission on Judicial Selection received 12 applications from individuals who wish to fill the judicial opening in Department C of the Eighth Judicial District Court.
 
This judicial nominating commission will nominate three individuals to fill the vacant seat. The Department C vacancy is through the resignation of the Honorable Rebecca Burton in late December of last year. The applicants in alphabetical order are as follows:

  • Robert Cerceo;
  • Adam Ganz;
  • Gregory Gordon;
  • Lynn Hughes;
  • Stephanie Keels;
  • Robert Kurth;
  • Kerri Maxey;
  • Janette Reyes Speer;
  • Adriana Rincon White;
  • Louis Schneider;
  • Jason Stoffel; and
  • Timothy R. Treffinger.
 
Interviews to fill vacancies are scheduled for March 30, 2023, in Las Vegas. The interviews will be streamed live through the Supreme Court’s YouTube channel and are open to the public. After the interviews, the commission will nominate three finalists for the vacancy to Governor Joe Lombardo.

State Bar Committees Seek Volunteers for Openings
The State Bar of Nevada is looking for qualified individuals to fill open positions on several volunteer boards.

The Board of Bar Examiners has one opening. The 14-member board writes and grades the bar examination questions, and it oversees the administration of the two bar examinations, the committees related to the bar application, and the admission process. Members have three-year terms that are often extended as there are no term limits. The application period closes May 21.

The Character and Fitness Committee has three openings – two for lay members and one Northern Nevada Panel seat. The committee conducts investigations, and holds informal and formal hearings with respect to bar applicants’ character and fitness. The committee reviews those applicants who are recommended to the committee by the admissions director. The application period closes May 21.
