SBTC to FMCSA: "Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Fire?"

In an SBTC industry poll, 90% of drivers suggest there has been an increase in speeding, especially through construction and school zones since the implementation of ELDs.
According to 2016 USDOT statistics, there were 13 times more speeding related deaths than drowsy driving related deaths in 2016. Drowsey-related deaths were on the decline and speeding related deaths were increasing*.
The onus is therefore on @FMCSA to conduct a study of 2018 speeding-related deaths that have involved a CMV with an ELD installed. In the meantime, they should hit the pause button on ELDs until they can confirm they did not take the motoring public out of the frying pan and into the fire.
@SecElaineChao @POTUS @FMCSA @USDOT If ELDs are causing truckers to speed to beat the clock like 90% of drivers polled suggest, then Congress and the American public had better prepare itself for incidents like this.
*According to the USDOT's own NHTSA report, 2016 national data show that Drowsy-driving deaths (803 fatalities) decreased by 3.5 percent while Speeding-related deaths (10,111 fatalities) increased by 4.0 percent.
