Dear SCCSA Members,
I hope you and your families enjoyed the 4th of July and America 250 celebrations this past weekend. As we look back over 250 years of American history, agriculture has been ingrained in our country's past. From the very beginning our farmers have been the backbone of this country and have provided the food, feed, fiber, and fuel that has propelled us to this point. Here's to agriculture's place in the next 250 years of America!
Many things have happened on the farm over the last several months, from a D4 drought status, to the Memorial Day Weekend rain event that saved many crops across this state. Yet, there are still many areas in desperate need of rainfall. I hope this week's chance of rain provides the much needed nourishment for your crops.
Over the next couple of weeks there will be several opportunities to hear firsthand research being conducted on corn and soybean across the state. These are great opportunities to interact with Extension Specialists and get answers to any issues you might be having on your own farm. I hope you will plan to join us.
As the planters get put away for the year and the combines come out from under the shed, I wish you a safe and prosperous harvest!
