The value of forest products export from South Carolina dropped from $94 million in May, to 88 million in June, for a negative change of 6.20% month-over-month. Shipments in June, however, were still 17% above those a year ago. As usual, pulp and paper accounted for most of the state's exports (81%). Solid wood products remained third in importance, accounting for 11% of exports, almost half of which corresponded to lumber. The fall of exports observed in June took place in nearly all sectors, except for wood furniture. Solid wood products, in particular, experienced a decrease of almost 15% month-over-month, caused mainly by drops in shipments of lumber to India and China, builder's joinery to Australia, and logs to India and Pakistan.
