SC Forest Products Exports: July 2021
The value of forest products exports from South Carolina, amounted to $93 million in July, which is 5.8% above those in June, and an increase of almost 25% from July 2020. Year-to-date, exports from the state are valued at $598 million, 2.1% more than exports over the same period in 2020. This month, exports of pulp and paper, accounted for 82% of the state’s total, solid wood for 11%, wood chemicals for 6%, and wood furniture and other commodities for approximately 1%. More than half of South Carolina’s forest products exports went to our top trade partners in the industry: China, Canada, India, Mexico, Japan, and South Korea. We observed positive changes from June to July in all the major sectors – pulp, paper, and solid wood products, along with wood chemicals.  In particular, we saw the biggest increases in log exports to Pakistan, the UAE, and Canada; cellulose wadding and webs to Canada, the UK, and Australia; and paper coated with kaolin to Pakistan, Taiwan, and Italy.
