Notes From the School Nurse
|
Fall is officially here!
With fall comes seasonal allergies as well as common fall and winter viruses. Symptoms of allergies, common cold, flu, strep and COVID all overlap.
For this reason if your child is going to be absent from school due to illness, when you email me at schoolnurse@scaeagles.com please include all symptoms your child is experiencing and when the symptoms began. I understand it is sometimes challenging to know what step to take so please feel free to email at any time and we will determine the best course of action.
Does SCA contact trace in the event of a positive COVID student or staff member?
Yes. SCA is required to notify the Dougherty County Department of Public Health of any student or staff member who tests positive for COVID as well as provide the names of any close contacts of this person. A close contact is defined by the CDC as someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic clients, 2 days prior to positive specimen collection). Therefore, if any SCA student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19 we are required and will ask for their close contacts.
I pray you all have a safe, fun, and healthy fall break! Please remember to take precautions as you travel.
"For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish." Jeremiah 31:25
